Putting original electrics into conduit when decorating?

It might be easier to leave the existing electrics as they are, and put in new conduit drops adjacent, but blanked off until required later.

Leasing an industrial unit, interior fit out advice needed.

    1. Look at flexible dividing walls so you can have one big room for some events and divide it for separate lets for others. EG https://www.becker.uk.com/concertina-partitions/harmonica/ https://www.style-partitions.co.uk/folding-walls/ 2. Heat pumps would probably be the best for long term...

Use existing 1950s metal conduit for rewire

It can and should be earthed by being connected to the back box - which you can probably also reuse if you use 4BA screws (keep the old ones) or retap the threaded lugs to M3.5. The back boxes probably have a 2BA tapping for an earth screw but the screw might have been omitted. You will need...

Intercom and door lock no longer working

And I think the O wire is the common, so probably where the O wire connects at the speech unit at the door, would account for total failure of all functions on all handsets.

Difference between fused spur and multiple extension leads?

Earth fault impedance, among other things. As well as protecting the cable with a 13A FCU you also have to have permanent sockets comply with earth fault impedance and disconnection times and all the other safety requirements. Chained extensions can have thin cable and high resistance...

Adding shelves into an MDF wardrobe.

I would use battens, and screw from the outside through the MDF and into the batten. Won't be quite as nice, but will be much stronger. You can use white caps on the screwheads outside.

What is the middle switch doing?

MK Gridswitch, pre-Logic Plus so before about 1997. Green earth sleeving before 1977. How cheap a job is that though, not even using grommets? And I don't like the look of the earths - are they wedged under a bent lug?

    Basic machine for Web browsing

Raspberry Pi for the web stuff, and connect to it from your existing desktop with a remote desktop viewer such as VNC. No cross-over switch needed and you will probably be able to copy and paste between the VNC window and other windows, if you want to take text or pictures from the web and...

Fitting strobes within Mains Smoke alarm system

They probably wouldn't, but easy enough to stick something like this on the front and wire in to the relay https://evaq8.co.uk/emergency-led-flare.html?category_id=31 Equivalents probably available from Bang Good or Ali Baba from 99p inc postage.

Fitting strobes within Mains Smoke alarm system

The Aico relay modules have Volt free contacts – (Normally Open or Normally Closed) so could switch a battery-powered load, but I don't know if the relay module will activate at all in the absence of mains power (ie if it can work off power on the IC wire from a battery-powered sensor).
