it does sound like the cold feed is blocked if its a fairly new system it could be just blocked on the way down from the F&E tank you may not need to replace what was said above..... first id get a compression straight ready15mm or 22mm depending on size of the cold feed ( or if you can solder...

sounds to me that hes not a repair specialist, he could have disconnected the stat to see if that was the problem, the valve he talked about at the end is the diverter valve, i say to people if it make take time to get parts is that you can always get the boiler manufacturer out to repair you...

eyyyyy there is no chrome nut....... its grey plastic ...and if moving the pin dont work ...try giving the valve a few taps from the side as this aslo frees the the pin !!

hey fella the tapping could be due to the pipe work in the floor knocking against the joist as copper expands as it heats up. sometimes the noggings cut out for the heating pipework isnt large enough!! ho ho ho !!

check that the trv`s installed are reverse flow, if they are not, this can cause the banging on the heating system!
