    Thanks for the info but whats a thermistor? and the expansion tank looks to have some kind of bleed nipple at the top, can I bleed it and recharge it.

    I think the law at the moment states "the person installing C/H and servicing gas appliances should be a competent person" not corgi registered. Corgi registered is a license to charge the public exorbitant prices as we have seen on TV, plumbers from hell.
