Should I replace electric heater with a/c unit in bedroom?

Hi guys, I really didn't expect a massive response to my original posting, but hey thanks. I have just had an a/c inverter installed in my living room, I bought it primarily for cooling but when I realised it could heat as well, I thought I would try. I originally used 2 x 2400W heaters to...

Should I replace electric heater with a/c unit in bedroom?

Am thinking about getting an a/c unit installed in bedroom. My bedroom is about 27m3. I currently heat it at night using a 1kW electric convector heater. I am happy when the temperature is around 17 degrees, so the heater doesn't need to work that hard. It clicks on and off during the night...

Wooden shed, needs ventilation - drilling holes ok?

I have a wooden shed which I think is around 8 feet by 4 feet. It was built around 1998 (before I moved into house). There appears to be no ventilation built into the design of the shed and this concerns me. Is it ok to simply drill a few holes at the front and back of the shed? If so...

Wood in window frame - what should I coat it with?

I have a single glazed window housed in a double glazing frame. The glazier installed a very neat fitted piece of rectangular wood to 'fill the space' of the 'thickness' of the double glazed window. I would like to coat this wood with something to make the wood more 'pleasing' to the eye and...

How do I attach wheelie bin to brick house ?

I would like to attach my wheelie bin to my detached house by use a chain that is attached to the building. The chain would prevent the bin getting blown around and blown over during strong winds. I expect the chain to go about two thirds the way up the bin. How would I attach the chain...

Is it easy enough to install this split a/c unit ?

Where the connecting cables between the units would run along the side of the house, they will come very close if not almost on top of my satellite sky cables. Will the sky tv signal be affected with the a/c cable?

Is it easy enough to install this split a/c unit ?

I actually don't have an aerial connected to my TV as I never watch live tv. I only record using sky and with a freeview recorder(which has tv aerial connected to it) which will sit over 2m from air con unit. The sky box etc connects to tv via HDMI cables. Will this set up have a potential...

Is it easy enough to install this split a/c unit ?

This is the picture from the manual I am referring to. I have re-measured and realised I could get away with 85cm between tv and internal unit. A bit confused about the outdoor unit and antenna, do they mean a normal tv aerial that is normally on the roof or the aerial connection...

Is it easy enough to install this split a/c unit ?

Got the supplier to send me the installation manual for this unit. Something is concerning me. It says that the internal unit must be at least 1m away from the tv. Where my proposed a/c unit would go, it is only half a meter from the tv. It also says the external unit should be at least 3m...

Is it easy enough to install this split a/c unit ?

Got an email reply from the company selling this unit, they say what you said SimonH2 that "chord must not go into the cavity". I don't like the idea of wrapping the extra chord behind external unit, concerned it would flap about in wind and be rather unsightly. So think it maybe better to run...

Is it easy enough to install this split a/c unit ?

Thanks guys, though I would rather this thread didn't turn into a debate about the benefits of air con. I am especially interested if anyone has installed a system like this. It doesn't look to me as if the pipes are copper - is it a flexible material that would be very difficult to kink...

electric fan heater into my bathroom

JohnW2, the heater is permanently wired in. I can change it to a 2kw heater by use of a switch inside the fan heater though. If doing that, it would take the load up to 21.7A. If I wish this option should I replace with a 25A MCB?

electric fan heater into my bathroom

The fan heater is connected to the same circuit as the 3kw immersion heater. That means it would be drawing a current of around 17A if both appliances were on at the same time. The MCB is only 16A, so I assume it would trip it both were on. Yes, you have spotted the weakness of this set...

electric fan heater into my bathroom

Got a double pole switch with integrated 13A fuse. Attached this switch in parallel to existing circuit in cupboard adjacent to bathroom. Used 10A, 2 core flex to connect existing circuit to new double pole switch to fan heater. Got fan heater running perfectly at 1kw. Heats up...
