I moved into a house built in 1981 with 2 sliding glass doors. The springs in the handles on both doors broke within 2 years of moving it (I must have been using my patio more frequently than the last owner). I posted photos to this album along with a description of the problem...

Here I am holding the latch in the unlocked position but as soon as I let go, gravity causes it to fall into the locked position.

This is the lock without the cosmetic cover. The spring broke and the lock always falls into the locked position.
