Running water in pipes - cannot find leak

Yes, lifted the cover, it's wet but not running that I could see. it's a Worcester 28i combi. I've checked it, closed the inlets and still it continues. I've checked the overflow as well as the condensate pipe. The overflow is bone dry and the condensate had a little water dripping from it but...

Running water in pipes - cannot find leak

Fresh out of luck. I had two pipes to follow. Found one is blind and serves no purpose. it has no leaks. I followed the second one, lost it in the ceiling. I think I know where it comes out of the ceiling but cannot be sure. Nonetheless, there are no water marks in the ceiling. Where I think...

Running water in pipes - cannot find leak

I've pulled the plinth to see and it was bone dry under there. It might be behind the cupboards. Will find a quiet time when neighbours are not home to pull the manhole as well. It's shared in the drive.

Running water in pipes - cannot find leak

Yes, it does go through the wall. I recently replaced the dishwasher which connects to the same pipe about 1m away. I'll remove the backpanel of the cupboard and take a look at the wall. I do think that the kitchen is raised on concrete as beams. It could all be pouring down there. With the...

Running water in pipes - cannot find leak

How would that show itself? Pressure is still in the green, heating not been turned on since, well, months ago.

Running water in pipes - cannot find leak

Damn - all these replies and no email telling me people were replying... Ok, no, it's not the toilet (we only have one). There is a ball-valve just before the cistern. I shut that, noise continues. No, there is no header tank in the loft. Not the boiler or filler loop - the loop is disconnected...

Running water in pipes - cannot find leak

Hi folks, So, for the last week I could hear running water in the pipes while sitting on the can. It was certainly not the toilet leaking. I finally got around to checking the water meter and true as nuts, it's turning. One last-digit every minute. I close the tap in the house and it stops. I...

    Consumer unit in bathroom?

@JohnW2 - If a normal triangular panel key was used for something like this (let's forget I said lockable?) reduce the problem? I have many of them so if I need to get in there then it's fine. SWMBO does not go near the CU - she calls me :) Assuming that would be considered two restrictive I...

    Consumer unit in bathroom?

I think that screen print you did says it all though. It will be in a sealed cupboard, vented into the kitchen to help with humidity. I will "lock" it with a standard panel key. It's more to stop the curious and the unintentional use for storage by SWMBO for makeup etc :) I think those things...

    Consumer unit in bathroom?

The problem I see with that is that the shared wall with the other room is the old external wall. The feed and meter are mounted squarely in the middle of the wall / cupboard. Behind it are the kitchen units. So, trying to grant access from behind it and have it as a sealed box becomes a hassle...

    Consumer unit in bathroom?

So that was my thinking of a sealed (did I mention that?) lockable door. The MDF cupboard where it is now backs onto what is, and will remain, the kitchen. The feed, meter and CU is mounted to the shared wall. Could I put a vent(s) below the unit below it venting into the kitchen? If I...

    Consumer unit in bathroom?

Thanks for that. I know it's doable now with the obvious due consideration. At least I can crack on :)

    Consumer unit in bathroom?

Well, it will be within reach of where I want to put a freestanding cast-iron bath. Really - what could go wrong ;) In all seriousness though - it will be within reach which is why I want to build a (lockable?) cupboard around it.

    Consumer unit in bathroom?

Folks, I'm planning some internal alterations and want to convert my study (size of a bedroom but no windows) into a bathroom. Problem is that the study used to be the kitchen with the main feed coming into it. The consumer unit is 1ft off the ground, ye olde bitumen cable coming out of...

Joining the boiler discharge pipe and condensate pipe

Thanks for the clarification. Well, it's a 23mm pipe and is mostly outdoors. Guess this will need addressing then as we enter winter. It runs into a concrete gully drain. As the previous so-and-so let it dip onto the galvanised grate it's eaten that and rusted it nicely - more effort needed...

Joining the boiler discharge pipe and condensate pipe

Genuine question - not being a smarta55 - I replaced the pipe on the outside of the wall after the elbow. It's now the same pipe, just newer :) Would this be considered illegal? When it comes to things like the flue or gas side itself then I would not bother trying.

Replacing Outdated X10 - Best Home Automation Hub? SmartThings?

I ended up with the evo home. It works ok, it's very closed-source and big-corp bland but does what it needs to. There are folks who have reverse-engineered the protocol and have ways to talk to it if you wanted to extend it and tinker. I've been eyeing the Samsung stuff for a while now. I...

    Replacing rad with concealed unit?

Brilliant - now I know what they're called :) Thanks Scratching around for one which is ducted. i.e. I can have it out of sight and a short amount of ducting to the outlet.

Joining the boiler discharge pipe and condensate pipe

Apologies folks, I did not see the replies. Ok, post was a bit misleading now that I read it back. It's not the discharge which is dibbling. It looks like it might have once of twice but that could have been during the install a year ago. It's certainly not wet now. The condensate is obviously...
