    Economy 7 metering query

It seems quite possible that the current waveform of EV chargers is known, and is sufficiently different from other long-term loads for a different tariff to be applied.

2 Spurs off a socket (ring)

No, the absence of permission to do 'something' does not mean that 'something' is prohibited.

    Depends on the flow rate.

2 Spurs off a socket (ring)

Interesting that MK specify 3 x 2.5 mm², when there is room for 3 x 4 mm².

    Boiling water

Aren't there some that heat the water as it flows through, like a Nespresso machine? (Or aan electric shower).

2 Spurs off a socket (ring)

"Compliance shall be checked by inspection and by fitting the appropriate conductors." Seems that way to me.

2 Spurs off a socket (ring)

There's nothing in BS1363 that prohibits terminals capable of accepting four (or more) conductors, only that they shall accept one, two or three 2.5mm² or one or two 4mm² conductors in the live terminals,, and one, two or three 1.5mm² or 2.5mm² or one or two 4mm² in the earthing terminals.

    Boiling water

The suppliers seem rather shy to state the power, just that they cost less than 3p per day, and run from a 13A plug!

    Boiling water

Yes, me too, but the time taken to boil the kettle, although less than the time taken to boil cold water in the pan, is still longer than using an 'instantaneous' water heater.

Ok for electrical socket to be positioned under kitchen sink?

    Sending power to Summerhouse

I've only looked at two hot tubs, and neither had any facility for automatic chlorination. One had a filter, about as fine as a tea-strainer, i.e. useless.

    Sending power to Summerhouse

More volume of water, with added chlorine and constant filtration.

    PAT visual

Agreed, the legal imperative is to maintain the installation in a safe condition. I'm a bit negative about PAT testing, having seen numbers of perfectly good products rejected because they couldn't be successfully PAT tested, or by inappropriate testing, usually measuring leakage current...

    PAT visual

Unfortunately there are many people responsible for the ongoing safety of installations who feel that they have discharged that duty by insisting on PAT testing of everything connected to that installation.

There is no legal requirement for anything to be PAT.

    advice on 3.6 kw kiln

If that's the "electrician" who suggested putting your kiln on a spur, then I wouldn't employ him to change a light bulb, however much feedback his friends have posted.

    Smoke detector wiring?

Is that the photo you meant to post? Looks like a mirror light to me!

    advice on 3.6 kw kiln

No, 3.6kW is too much for a spur.
