Shower screen seal - available to buy seperately?

A quick Google will provide you with a few specialist suppliers and there are several sellers on eBay that do the seals - I got one for my screen from there :)

    help with potential disaster

Advice? Stop panicking. If there's slight moisture then it'll just be whatever you missed mopping up from the initial spill. It'll take more than that to bring the ceiling down. :)

    petrol flymo lawnmower problem

I've got one of these with a similar problem; a quantum xte 12 series. It needs easy start to get going and then constant priming to make it run until it's properly warmed up then it'll run lumpy but ok. I've got a carb service kit for it - it's getting stripped and cleaned :)

    Temporary Mains Box!

The one the OP is referring to is called a Keynector. There's one on eBay (minus the bottom plate so you'd have to fabricate one or fix it to something) here: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mains-Keynector-MainsLead-and-Plug-/270807710360 I've got a couple of them :)

Help needed with Neutral to Earth short

I have an Avo 8 MKIII sitting on the shelf here

    Earthing Systems

No, because in a TN-C system the consumer earth is actually supplied via the neutral conductor by the service provider. In a TT system no earth is provided and local arrangements have to be made. Although I can see what you mean - the incoming cabling is identical up and to the service head...

Help needed with Neutral to Earth short

Modern digital multimeters have very high input impedances and that means that extremely high impedance sources (i.e. capacitively or loosely inductive coupled) will present as a reading on them - the input impedance is too high to 'damp' the spurious reading. Bring back the moving coil, I...

    Earthing Systems

Erm, connected at the substation, which they are and both supplied to the consumer as in using separate conductors. I suspect you're looking at it the wrong way. The IEC standard applies to the supplier, not the consumer - the earthing system is WRT to the supply.

    Earthing Systems

Eh? That's TN-C you're talking about. TN-S systems have separate conductors for neutral and earth.

    Earthing Systems

Because earth and neutral are connected at the substation transformer and both are supplied to the consumer.

    Earthing Systems

From wiki :) International standard IEC 60364 distinguishes three families of earthing arrangements, using the two-letter codes TN, TT, and IT. The first letter indicates the connection between earth and the power-supply equipment (generator or transformer): T Direct connection of...

Help needed with Neutral to Earth short

Neutral is earth at the substation, earth is a locally provided earth either by the DNO or, in the case of TT, by an earth rod at your premises.

Help needed with Neutral to Earth short

240V between live and earth is normal. It's not a case of what type of neutral is used, but rather what type of earthing arrangement.

    Wind farms and Climate Change

I'm not sure how that would work. As an example, a 1MW wind turbine would reduce the downstream wind energy by a fair bit more than it generates. A farm of them will reduce downstream wind energy significantly there's just no way it can increase it - it can't get windier. To answer (or...

Ban all sheds has done this on every forum he's been a member of. He's been banned from at least two of them. Unless he's actually changed job he isn't actually an electrician either - he's just a knowledgeable amateur AKA DIYer. Ho hum.

    Bosch Classixx 1200 Express

It's definitely not filling when the machine is off - the drum remains dry when it's not in use. The machine drains directly into the trap on the sink next to it - it's one of those with a spigot that fits the outlet hose. The drain runs freely. I'm waiting for brushes for the motor at...

    Bosch Classixx 1200 Express

That's what it should do, I agree. However, both times we've had a power outage we've had a flooded floor which doesn't seem like a coincedence to me. Normally the intermittent leak produces a small quantity of water not a flood and we've only ever had a flooded floor on those two occasions...
