    Pressure relief valve

Ok, thanks for your help. At least this way I get a useful cupboard downstairs.

    Pressure relief valve

Might need to go in the loft then

    Pressure relief valve

Ok, thanks. I guess the tank can't go on the ground floor then as there is no way to get to the outside with a fall on the outlet unless there is a way to pump it. But do I need a tundish if the outflow is visible from outside the house, for example a pipe stopping short of a gully? Read more...

    Pressure relief valve

Oh and the answer to the question. Can I vent the relief valve to the loft without a tundish by the tank?

    Pressure relief valve

Firstly thanks for all the replies, very useful. Secondly, please don't call me an idiot. I'm not an idiot. Thirdly, are you really saying that I can't legally do ANY of this work myself? Can't remove the old tank, or put the new one on the wall, or wire it up, or anything else which doesn't...

    Pressure relief valve

Thanks for the advice. I intend on doing most of the work myself. Just need to know whether I can vent the valve into the loft without a tundish.

    Pressure relief valve

Hi all, I'm looking at fitting an unvented electric water heater in a ground floor cupboard to replace an old immersion tank. Might fit a Hyco Powerflow or an Eldom if they're any good. ? Anyway, as the cupboard is in the centre of the house there is no way to run a discharge pipe other than...

    Resistor identification

I don't know, maybe they both have, maybe neither have and the fuse blew first. Only one is visibly damaged and the leg is loose in the pcb, perhaps as a result of overheating but also could be the cause.

    Resistor identification

Hi everyone. I have a resistor I'm struggling to identify. The four bands are either Brown - Black - Brown - Black, or Black - Brown - Black - Brown. I think I'm right that Black can't be a tolerance figure as it is zero. So this would make the resistor 1 ohm with 1% tolerance. Reading it...

    700mA LED

No, you're right, I was looking at voltage v current curves which are not relevant here.

    700mA LED

Thanks for your replies. Yes, constant current driver and LEDs. I'll hook them up and see if it's bright enough. I looked up the curve graph, quite interesting.

    700mA LED

Hi everyone, I have a 350mA 18W supply going to a wine cabinet in my house. I also have a couple of 3W 700mA LED fixtures I would like to fit. Would I be able to run them in series on that driver at half brightness or is that not recommended? 1.5W per lamp of light would be fine. Or should I...

    Zanussi washer dryer fault

Hi there, just hoping someone has had this specific problem... A friend of mine has a Zanussi Lindo 1000 washer dryer. It stopped working and wouldn't drain. Apparently it displayed code E6h, but I have not been able to replicate this. Anyway, I popped round, drained the water, opened the...

    Garden pump on PME

If I want to fit a car charging point in the garage, I'm going to have to fit a rod out there to comply with the regulations on earthing, but I'm struggling to see the difference between the two.?? I'm talking about going "outside the equipotential zone"

    Garden pump on PME

I have a PME system. Is it ok to fit a fused spur to a circuit in the house and run cable to a pond pump in the garden, or do I have to fit a rod?

    Fitting ethernet adapters across phases

This is all useful, thanks. Believe me, if you saw the route between router and the guest house you would understand the cost involved in ducting new cable. Three storey house, flint walls, decorative corbelling, antique coving, York paving around entire house, two drives to cross and a semi...

    Fitting ethernet adapters across phases

Not sure if it's twisted pair. I might get an IT friend of mine in to verify it's OK and set it all up.
