    vauxhall astra crankbolt

Well that is the thing, torquing a bolt down in the normal manner, the end result is very dependant on how it is done, when it's taken past it's yield point so long as you get it there or there about the end result will be very close to what it should be. Regarding Zetec head bolts I should...

    Fiesta heater

It will be the control valve which is located under the bonnet in the centre below the windscreen, it will have 4 hoses on it and a leckie plug, these get full of crud and jam in one position, take it off and clean it out, should do the trick.

    vauxhall astra crankbolt

Ah thats not why stretch bolts are used, they are used because they provide a much more accurate means of determining clamping force. When a bolt is torqued down there will be a tolerance on how much torque is applied to the bolt, namely, working tolerance of the torque wrench, manufacturing...

    vauxhall astra crankbolt

Not strictly true, some can be reused, for example Ford Zetec 1.8 head bolts can be reused 3 times. In this case it depends, if the engine code is Z16XE reuse bolt, for the other engine codes it says replace bolt, but unless you have the special crank locking tool to hand, you are never going...

    vauxhall astra crankbolt

I'm not to sure if i've had that problem on that engine, but i've had loads of bolts supplied that where wrong, and the parts lad swearing blind it's the right one! All too often its been labelled wrongly in the factory, so its the right part No. but the wrong part.(this happens a lot more than...

Cant find the correct screw to hold up my pendants

On closer inspection of the photo, that really dose look like a BSW thread and looks to have 24 threads per inch so it has got to be 7/32 BSW, or posiably No.12 UNC, there is no other thread series with a pitch anywhere near for that kind of diameter

The Turbo Gold or Turbo Ultra(stainless version) are defo my favorites, cheeper than the spax and in my view better. http://www.screwfix.com/c/screws-nails-fixings/turbogold/cat840768

    What size drill bit?

If they are decent plugs the grey ones have the size stamped on them. You could find an old brick and drill different size holes in it and see which hole the plug fits nicely in.

    What size drill bit?

Those are the cheepo ones though. and it says 5.5mm or 6mm http://www.rawlplug.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=103&Itemid=34 These won't fit in a 5.5mm hole!

    Removing decking screws Ryobi drill/driver

Fair enough if a No.3 won't fit it's got to be a No.2, in the photo it dose look like a No.3 though. My top tip is to use a small pick, or very small flat screwey to remove the crud out of the head before trying to un-screw them, as the crud in the bottom of the recess prevents the bit...

    What size drill bit?

Erm No Both Rawlplug and Fischer red plugs require a 6mm hole! maybe with some cheepo ones you need to use a 5.5mm hole to stop them falling out!

they are pozi head screws, and look to me like a No3.

    What size drill bit?

I never use the plugs supplied, as they are usually the cheapest most useless plugs available. My favorites are the rawl uno plugs. As Burnerman says colour is often used to identify size; Yellow=5mm Red=6mm Brown=7mm Blue=8mm

Cant find the correct screw to hold up my pendants

If it was 0 BA a M6 bolt would go in, as 0 BA has a major diameter of 5.99948mm and a pitch of 1.00076mm, although the form angle is different, it will fit no problem. It could be 7/32 BSF however the pitch of the threads is closer to M5 than M6 If the pitch of the threads is close to M6...

    Cleaning alternator...

All the grade sizes are all the same, and emery has the same alu oxide grit as wet & dry, it's just bonded to the backing differently. You can use wet & dry but the paper backing will tear very quickly, as opposed to the cloth backing of emery, which is far more durable in this type of...

    Cleaning alternator...

Don't be tempted just give it a go, but i'm fairly certain using sand won't work, emery dose though! only use a little bit of emery at a time, don't let it wrap around the valve, and only take the cack off don't go up the valve stem. It sounds more scary than it is actually doing it. But if you...
