    Cleaning alternator...

How I clean valves up is to, grip the valve stem in a drill chuck, start it spinning on a fast speed and use a strip of emery cloth, preferably 120 grit to clean the crud off, this works really well, and leaves them with a lovely polished finish, it's easier if you can hold the drill in a vice...

    Sanding large areas

I'm guessing you don't want to take it back to bare timber, just sand down to re-coat, if so I would use a 6" random orbital sander, by far the best for this type of work. The sanding disks for these are very expensive from diy sheds, I get mine from a car bodyshop/paint supplier, much cheeper...

    Why won't my scooter run?

Has it got 8 month old fuel mix in the tank? If so the nice petrol will have evaporated and whats left will be far to oily, and will foul the plug up.

Fixing fan - oven - quick question

That looks like it should just pull off, it'll just be a bit seized, a bit of wd40 on it will help a lot, also try pulling on the fan and give the end of the shaft a tap with a small hammer, not too much just a tap, and be carefull not to damage the threads.

Fiesta 1.4 Tdci 04 reg Clutch Operating Concern

I have had this fault before, it was a while ago and I can't remember exactly what it was, but it was either the linkage from the top of the pedal to the master cyl, or the part of the master that connects to the linkage, I seem to think I had to change the master cyl, but i'm not a 100% on...

    Wiring for electronics lab!

I wouldn't expect him to either, as he lives in scotland. Although I think you would need a building warrant for this work, as it's in a flat.

    punto gearbox problem

If the noise stops when the clutch is pressed fully, then chances are it's a g/box fault, if you are suffering gear selection problems, it'll be the syncro/baulk rings, rather than the actual gears, as they remain constantly meshed. As you are having difficulty selecting all gears, this may not...

    Architrave round sockets?

Ah I see what you mean now(not that your description was incorrect, it's just different to the picture i had in my head) Erm well if you want double sockets, i think i would still go with dry lining boxes, cut the hole for the box(which is smaller than the socket) and knock out a bit of the...

    bahco screwdrivers

Bahco and Sandvik where bought out by Snap-on, the trade names have been kept for obvious reasons, but some of the manufacturing of the brands has moved around, and Sandvik had a plant in Spain. So it's a Snap-on/Bahco/Sandvik, but branded as Bahco.

    Cleaning alternator...

As said Jizer(or similar) would be far better, hose it off, blow it out with compressed air if you can but not vital, a good spray with WD40(or similar), wipe it with a rag, and refit it, I wouldn't worry about making sure it's bone dry before refitting.
