How to wire a 2 core plug for '60s Revox Tape Machine? Help!

Looking at the circuit diagram, either way round will make it work just as well, BUT there is an internal fuse and this SHOULD be connected to the live. So take the cover off and have a look. Don't worry your not going to break it taking the cover off  well not unless you use a big hammer...

    what are the best Spanners?

More like you're paying for the goverments high rate of inport duty on tools! so it's price of spanner+inport duty+vat=chr ching. That said Snap-on are by far the best, so if you are going to use them day in day out, I would say they are definitly worth the money. It all depends on how much you...

    Air hose help

Your best bet is to get a PCL Vertex quick release connector, with a 3/8" thread to go on your air line, and the tails to go on your air tools. Like this http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/PCL-3-8-BSP-TAPER-MALE-THREAD-VERTEX-AIR-COUPLING-/300445242044?pt=UK_Air_Tools_and_Compressors&hash=item45f3ee92bc...

Prepping a cable for a plug

Fair point, but when manufacturers instructions contradict BS 7671 or any other british standard for that matter, and you can't see any good reason for doing so, it's time to question the manufacturers instructions!

Garden Pond. to bond or not to bond

Just a thought, but instead of trying to earth the pond water would it not be better, to replace the cable with three core and have the cpc terminated in say a terminal block in the handle, unable to touch any live parts but where the water could make contact with it.

Prepping a cable for a plug

Line and neutral too long. Earth too short. If you where to pull on the cable hard enough, the line and neutral should pull out of the terminals before the earth.

    SQUIRELLS HAVE EATEN CABLES!

I would not try and force someone to sign anything that they didn’t want to, but in a situation like this, if they refused to put there signature on your job sheet, to confirm that you had informed them of a dangerous situation, personally alarm bells would start ringing in my head! I would take...

    oil level too high

The other thing is where did this water come from, I think you would probably remember driving through a lake or a three foot deep puddle! I would love to hear where they think it came from, and how it got in there.

    oil level too high

The only way water entering through the inlet(air filter), could get into the sump is if it somehow gets past the piston rings, I have seen this but only when the water has caused the engine to hydraulic lock, and the piston rings where damaged/shattered, also resulting in bent/snapped con rods...

I'm pretty sure grease has a density of about 800g/L so a std. 400g cartridge would be 500cc

A little help with LEDs please!

Please Do Not even think of powering this directly off the mains. health and safety would have kittens, and have you out of a job faster than you can say led. You will need a step down transformer with a DC output of around 6 - 12V. Each led needs about 1.5V across it, so you'll need rows of...

How to supply a draw of > 13 amps on a socket - possible?

On the one I’ve got the adjustment on the pressure switch doesn’t work like that, it would be an improvement if it did mind, the only adjustment is for the pressure at which the motor is stopped, which obviously needs to be above the normal working pressure, however I think that if it was set...
