How to supply a draw of > 13 amps on a socket - possible?

Let me guess it’s a Karcher HD series? A place I used to work for, had one that went through 1 or 2 fuses a month, when it threw its hand in, it was replaced with a newer version, and that one used to eat fuses, like you describe. The funny thing is I kept the old one repaired it and use it...

    Is this switch ok?

Ok fair point. But any work on a lighting circuit, would not require a warrant, in any type of domestic building. p.s. yes i have just looked that up.

    Is this switch ok?

As far as I know, the building warrants do not require notification for diy electrical work.

    Is this switch ok?

As Fife is in bonny scotland, english building regs don't come into it, so it's not notifiable

    Insulation resistance testing issues

I would say it's got to be the socket, assuming no wires are getting traped/crushed as it gets screwed down, the back box is deep enough isn't it?

    Swapping light switch

As the wires have been conected to com and L1, it should be off in the off position, so the switch has been fitted upside down, maybe I should have said turn it the right way up :!:

    Photocell

Well it looks like you are using the right thing. For some reason i thought you where making it from components, and had got the wrong type of photocell(it's been a long day) What you've done should work, could be a duff photocell, try swaping the live feed with the out first.

    Photocell

What type of photocell are you using? There are photocell's that give an output when light is shining on the cell. I'm assuming you want this light to come on when it is dark.
