O.K Mtb. but....mist coat twice then Zinsser Gardz then lining paper then finished paper on a chimney breast is a bit.. Motorhead.

Not my way :!: Not saying that it's no good, it's probably very good indeed, but Lining is the perfect base. FROM Graham & Brown website - When should I use lining paper? We would always recommend using lining paper as the perfect base on which to hang wallpaper.

Papering over lining paper is the best possible surface to paper over. That's probably why you'll see it on the instructions of the paper and it's wise to follow them in case of any problems. If you were to have problems papering over vinyl matt, you'd be snookered if the manufactures make an...

Another option: Line it first.

I've already said over plaster that was mist coated. Perhaps it will always happen if you do this. Point is.. best not use masking tape or use extremely low tack because it will probably happen again.

I've never put masking tape over plaster that was mist coated over a month ago. I doubt whether any other painter and decorator or plasterer has either. Anybody :?:

Couple of choices -- You could mix a small amount of paste, gently lift the edges with a filling knife or scraper, brush the paste inside the gap and damp sponge it down. I would just do the above as I mentioned but using emulsion instead of paste then sponge down.

Oil based undercoat , but don't use red if your ceiling is going to be finished in white, or vice versa. :wink:

Depending on the paper, pattern, thickness, match etc, you may have to do it in three. Was ceiling, slope and wall.

A lot of the lads round my way use it as a big firm always used to use it and the shop supplies it. I've only used black lately but... I got a call from a woman that had this young guy round to do a lot of painting and she wanted me to make it right. He was 1 of these guys that had practised...

Ah. The old "grain" issue eh. Highly unlikely just using a damp rag or sponge. I'm not suggesting it should be immersed in a bath for a week. Just a damp wipeover.

Why would you not use a damp lint free rag or sponge (if it is glue) ?
