Grant 26e Oil Boiler goodwill please, no hot water

Did you change the correct pump? Re venting, you can splash the pcb board if not careful.

Grant 26e Oil Boiler goodwill please, no hot water

Still sounds like pump. Is it getting power/spinning when DHW is on?

Screwfix 'review' rejected, taps not what they seem.

Does it matter and have you the time? I mean, you'll need an 'any old tap' to use while warring with the Screwfix legal bods, which can take light years. Good luck though! :-)

    Riello pump pressure test

    Hiya I'll PM you. ;)

    Riello pump pressure test

Agreed, but skilled tradesfolk in remoteland are impossible to source, so I have to learn new skills - even if I don't want to!

    Riello pump pressure test

I want to check the pressure on a Grant Vortex Riello burner, but can't find any info on residual pressure; eg if I remove the test-point Allen screw, will it spit out 8 bar of kerosene all over the utility room, or does it only work up to that pressure when running? Thank you!

    Gauge and analyser

I'd only want it for a day. I think Jewsons hire them too, but I wondered if I needed to be in the trade.

    Gauge and analyser

Can I hire an oil pressure gauge and gas analyser, to adjust after changing nozzle, or is this forbidden?

    Grant 26e Vortex prv

Update. PRV shot and both expansion vessels had zero pressure. Working great guns now! :-)

    Grant 26e Vortex prv

Re the expansion vessel, I have two, the boiler one and an external. So I'll check both. I've been quoted .8 bar for the vessel and 1 bar for the boiler. Does that sound correct? Also, do you think the blue handled valve will start leaking when disturbed? Many thanks and apols for all questions!

    Grant 26e Vortex prv

What are these like to change, please? Looking down on it, unscrewing it looks like it'll catch on the aav (which was silly-tight when replaced by an engineer). Also, if depressurised, will removal still create a 'gusher'? (This is a bungalow, so no additional 'weight on water.) The history to...

Grant Vortex 26e no hot water

Hiya pump was replaced with DAB and works fine and I was just double checking which setting to use, as engineer and DAB said one and Exedon and Grant another; so going with latter, a constant curve. I don't really understand the 'curve' bit. Does it curve as the water heats and pressure rises...

Grant Vortex 26e no hot water

DISREGARD! Spoke to Grant today and Exedon info was spot on! Ta again.

    Thanks both. Fixed now. (Pump).

Grant Vortex 26e no hot water

Hi and no. I didn't want to start opening control panels and/or removing and inspecting the pump without a replacement. I know there's a slight chance I'll stumble across a fix, but would much rather stick a new pump on and forget all about it.

Grant Vortex 26e no hot water

Hiya and thanks I tried it again and it overheated in about three mins. Hot water flow is very good (although it's cold!) Is this the pump and is it a direct swap? I wondered if it was too powerful. dhw pump

Grant Vortex 26e no hot water

Morning and thank you. I'm told the pump's obsolete and can't speak to Wilo or Grant either as closed for Xmas... Have you a link to the pump you use, please? I'll order one.

Grant Vortex 26e no hot water

Hi and thanks for reply. I ran it for three mins and all the chromed pipes, exchanger and pump itself were cold. Top outlet at boiler was warming up, which I guess you'd expect if the boiler's ignited. Turned it off again as figured it would overheat again. I ran the hot tap for a couple of mins...

Grant Vortex 26e no hot water

Thanks for reply. I can feel the pump spinning but have read the impeller can become detached! Also that the pump's no longer available. Is there any point in having a look inside without a replacement to hand?
