Resin shower tray .... Mortar or legs

After a bit of reading I went with flexible tile adhesive for mine. Seemed like a popular choice and made sense to me. Very easy to get level and its been fine so far. Not following the manufacturer's instructions will likely void the warranty but I don't put much faith in them anyway.

Help with offset bends required on 68mm round guttering

You want a pair 135 degree elbows. From the top it'll be a short length straight down, elbow, short length towards wall at 45 degrees, elbow, longer length straight down to drain. They can be solvent welded but its not really needed if you have brackets on the longer length holding it to the wall.

Dealing with a flaky damp wall as best as possible

We have an old stone building. Thick walls, no cavity. Its not been well looked after. I've fixed the worst of the leaks in the roof and windows so now its time to make the interior a little more habitable. I think the walls are lime plaster but they've been patched and skimmed with modern multi...

A drone? Although I suspect we may see a law change soon

Outbuilding adding a light and socket

I'd use a switch fuse. You can then fuse it down to something sensible for a lighting circuit. If it was just one light the switch would act as the light switch but in your case you'll want a second double switch and this one will just be an isolator.

    Valiant boiler advice please

That does look more like a leak to me but hard to tell from the pic. Mine had a very small drip. Small enough that I thought it might be condensation but a bit of investigation and it turned out to be an o-ring on the inlet pipe. Pretty easy fix. I was quite surprised how deteriorated the old...

Advice needed on buying a battery powered drill

Have a look at makita. The LXT range, ideally brushless. You will get one in budget. They are well made and powerful. The big plus is that once you have one you can buy other tools that use the same battery pretty cheaply. Of course other manufacturers offer bare tools using the same battery but...

    Need suggestions for loft ladder

Even if you already have a hatch I'd replace it with one with the ladder on the door. They really are so much better.

    Need suggestions for loft ladder

How big is the hatch? If it big enough then you can get a ladder that sits on the hatch. These are the best IMO. The whole thing can be opened and extended one handed. Great when you are carrying stuff. It also takes up no space in the loft. Something like this: If the hatch isn't big enough...

    Drill/bore large deep hole.

A forstner bit will do it. You'll need an extension to go deep though.

Pre Planning Application - What do the council want

If you go onto the council website they will have all planning applications on-line. Download a few completed and approved ones and you will see what they look like. With a bit of searching you might even find one pretty similar, especially if your house is a standard style.

A builders adhesive like Gripfill will do that

Loft ladder for a hatch that's the wrong way round...

Can you move the hatch? Ours was originally a tiny hole with an awkward ladder. Now its a good sized hole that opens nicely onto the landing and can be operated one handed. Its was a pretty easy job. Just a bit messy

clay to pvc flexible adaptor sizes

They do stretch quite well but not when they are cold. A little soak in warm water softens them up nicely.

Connecting an unconnected property to the grid

Thanks all. Appreciate only the DNO can give an exact answer but I'm guessing that will take time, in the meantime the property will be sold. Just trying to get a ballpark figure and see if there are any issues I may have missed. Underground would be preferable but its on a steep, rocky hill so...

Connecting an unconnected property to the grid

We are looking at a renovation project. It has a load of issues that we are going through the pros and cons of. One them is no electricity. I'm hoping this isn't too big a deal. It once had electricity a very long time ago if that makes any difference. There is a line of poles running along the...

Getting the Brexit message across to Britain's Political Parties

Remainers don't need a message*. We aren't remaining, remember? So what is the Brexit message? "Get on with it and lets see what happens afterwards", is that close? *although there actually is one and it isn't that hard to find a consensus on it

    Routing Letters

Sounds like a job for a CNC router. Do you have a local hackspace who could help out? Failing that you could get it done commercially but it won't be that cheap. Or you could do something with a pyrography pen if you have a steady hand
