I have removed the overflow pipe but have to put it back due to incomplete mission. We try it again today with the box spanner.

Is there any white mortar product, which is heatproof that i could use for the fireplace? Or should i call it a white fire cement?

I like to remove both side of the pipe elbows, which covered with paint - as the pictures below.
I would like to replace it with a new one for the tower rail.
Should just blow torch on it or remove the paint first? How can i avoid the wallpaper from getting burn from the heat?

What would be best? I've opened the fireplace and removed the hearth as to replace with the new one. I want to install a vermiculite board (brick effects) on the inner wall of the fireplace and also the new hearth. So which should i start first? The inner wall or hearth
No way of tracing the pipe cause it runs under the concrete floor. All i found is, as shown in the thumbnail above and i think that was the links to the pipe.
