    ABS Light Staying On

One of the most common causes of ABS failure on older cars is corrosion under the ABS reluctor rings. These are toothed rings that are push fitted to the CV joints and have a sensor that is mounted in a hole in the hub carrier. If you are competent at DIY you can sometimes remove the sensor and...

    Any landlords here ?

I let a house in Sheffield (two hours away from where I live) the letting agent is excellent, always sorts things out and always gets incredibly low priced quotes for repairs, however I am now selling because of a recent, rather shocking event. The agent spent from early this year trying to get...

Joiner able to drill 16mm/85mm straight hole in wood?

If you place the shelves flat, you could place a key (or similar) on the drill bit, if it runs away from you, the drill is aiming down, if it comes back towards you, it is aiming up......

    Personalised registration plates

it is possible that DVLA withdrew it but it certainly did exist, he has "6 Ock" too so he might have replaced it with that if DVLA withdrew it https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Parrish

    Personalised registration plates

Pen15 is local to me, I probably shouldn't name him but it belongs to a former truck racer/motorcycle racer who now does motorcycle commentary...he is known to be a bit of a joker too!

Heating question - major flood after service, what’s gone wrong here?

Years ago, I had a similar failure when my old Parkray fire had its flue control stuck open, the expansion tank in the loft melted and dumped boiling water inside the loft. Luckily it was lathe and plaster so it just leaked slowly, it didn't cave in..... Be absolutely sure that the tank in the...

    India

They use local cremation, kind of "adhock" often just piling branches on the body and setting fire to it. In the smaller villages/towns, they are doing this right outside the hospital.

    India

My boss is Indian and he shared some local, Indian language news reports, they believe the government is playing down the infection and death rates 10/1 at least. He showed local news reports from individual towns.

    Engine making a noise.

There is a second identical valve buried under all the vacuum pipes etc to the left top of your picture but it would take a little dismantling to get to. You could just swap them over to test but it is laughably common for them to buzz...

    FAILED PCB IN BOILER

I quite agree, they have removed a safety feature, I put repaired in quotes, "butchered" would have been a better terminology!

    FAILED PCB IN BOILER

I'm not disputing that, I still think it will be that and the fuse that require replacing and the little black thing underneath is a fuse. Here is a picture posted on a site that "repairs" PCB's, they have clearly simply removed the GMOV (and a capacitor), repaired the burnt track and called it...

Is that a fuse underneath it on the picture too?

    FAILED PCB IN BOILER

My bad, could it now be short circuit then if the manufacturer believes it has been run over voltage? It is the little blue thing isn't it?

    FAILED PCB IN BOILER

This could be a long shot but if you look at the PCB track going to the little blue thing I think you might find the main voltage in goes through that and out the other side, I think it may be wired in series. If that does appear to be the case, it might be a GMOV and it might just require...

    Simple Printer for Home use

The biggest cause of inkjet problems is non-OEM cartridges. We use HP Instant Ink and get 100 pages for £3.49 a month, that could be 100 photos if you want. They always send new cartridges before they run out and we banged it up to 300 pages a month during home schooling for under £10 a month...

How to add rawlplug on brick after going through plasterboard?

I use solder, the thick solder used for plumbing. I push it in the hole until it bottoms out and pull it back out, cut it so it will sit a few mil short of the surface and then just run a long enough screw to go past the plasterboard and deep enough into the brick.

    Unnecessary Travel...

I believe you are incorrect, restrictions eased on March 29th when the stay at home rule was lifted, copied from the .GOV website " Travel The ‘stay at home’ rule will end on 29 March but many restrictions will remain in place. People should continue to work from home where they can and minimise...

Signing in when visiting pubs and restaurants

I had an argument with my brother-in-law about this today, he was angry/disgusted even that we might have to sign in to pubs and restaurants. I pointed out a holiday that we all went on as two families a couple of years ago, it was all inclusive and every time you either got a drink or food, you...
