Where can I get this hook?

If it snaps that easily I wouldn't be sticking a child in it.

Cannot get HW by itself since motorized valve replacement.

[/url] The Drayton TA/M4 valve is used with a special relay box. A standard 3 port valve is not a direct replacement unless the system is rewired to a standard Y plan configuration. If the junction box says RB1 or RB2 on it the chances are the wiring is incorrect. As Tony (Agile) said...

How to avoid copper pipe crinkling during bending

The crinckling is known as throating and will happen with a rubbish bender or with a poorly maintained bender. It is also a lot more likely to happen with continental copper tube which seems to be a lot harder than the normal half hard copper manufactured in this country. The main cause with...

    Dimplex unvented direct water heater

You need to be G3 qualified as the immersion heater is a safety critical part.

New boiler was chem flushed at installers recommendation

If the installer is unwilling to rectify the gas pipe sizing issue give Gas Safe Register a call and ask for an inspection. They will normally insist that the fault is rectified.

    De-butchering the gas

Running the gas pipe is considered gas work and should only be done by a gas safe registered installer. Your best bet is to get a local installer to come in and disconnect or cap off any gas pipes to allow you to do the rip out and then get them back to run the new piping.

Pressure increase in unvented hot water cylinder

Any form of outlet that mixes hot and cold is liable to give problems with unbalanced supplies. Easiest solution is to limit the cold as well to give equal pressures. Ideally the shower should be fitted with single check valves on the inlets as well.

    Replacement combi boiler

I think one of the reasons that the smaller firms and one man bands like manufacturers like Intergas is the back up they get. The large firms like Worcester Bosch, Vaillant etc. are only interested in supplying the big boys and don't give the back up to the small firms. I for one have moved away...

Central Heating - variable radiator heat

The bypass valve ensures a minimum flow through the boiler. We really need more information on the system though. Is it fully pumped? S plan (2 motorised valves, one for heating, one for hot water). Y plan (Single valve with 3 pipes coming out of it). Also is it a single pipe or two pipe...

    Issues getting hot water.

Hot water off time means the manual has been badly translated. Hot water off time is when there is no call for hot water. You've got a fault with the boiler which require s a gas safe engineer to rectify. Get someone in to check it over.

Gas leak in newly purchased house!!!!

I think the term is caveat Emptor, buyer beware. I always advise people to have the gas, heating and plumbing inspected before they buy a property. Most don't and are then shocked when I turn up to service the appliances and shut them off as being unsafe. The fact that the guy was unwilling to...

    Rated People any good?

I'm with Checkatrade and find it very good. I probably get around 75% of my work through it at the moment and most of the customers use me again. It's an annual fee which, to me, is a very effective form of advertising. It's a lot cheaper than advertising on Yell etc. For the customers, they can...

BACK BOILER CONDEMNED - WHICH COMBI?????

Make sure that you tell the guy doing the work this before he prices the job. I use the value of the scrap on a job to offset the cost of rubbish clearance so will charge accordingly more if the customer wished to keep the cylinder.

    Ideal logic+

You've got to weigh up the inconvenience of waiting for the water to come through versus the cost of keeping the boiler warm at all times. If you have a water meter you then add the cost of the water wasted to the mix.

German 1/2" TRV body onto 15mm copper pipe ok?

Searching for Small Stainless Steel Sink

Have a look at Blanco sinks. I've got one in my utility room and the bowl fits into a 400 unit and the drainer is above the washing machine. By cutting a section out of the back of the unit I just managed to squeeze a monobloc tap with flexi tails in.

    Bronze pump DHW circulator

Probably cheaper to fit a small undersink electric unvented unit. No heat loss from circulating water, no disruption putting the secondary return in.

Pulling old lead pipes replace with MDPE

Won't work. Have you seen the kit they use to mole a new main in. It runs off a huge compressor. Do you think they'd bother with that if a small hand puller would do the trick?

What cordless combi drill for an ocassional DIY'er please

For twice a year buy a corded one and an extension lead. Leaving a battery 6 months between uses doesn't help it's longevity.

Boiler working too hard equal high bills

You, and your supplier, are getting two different things mixed up. When an engineer talks about pressure drop across a pipe run he is talking about the frictional losses that occur when gas passes through the pipe. The regulations state that this should be a maximum of 1 mbar between the meter...
