Advice on new garage roof leaking....

Lead would have been ideal as long as it was stepped at every 1.5m which may have been tricky on that roof design, also would be concerned about the weight of it on a relativley lightweight structure

Advice on new garage roof leaking....

Very hard to tell. For starters it should never have been built without a fall on it. If it is dead flat and has not had a pitch built into it theres a good chance even with an accidental degree of it falling the wrong way that it could all be running up to one end and actually having the water...

Advice on new garage roof leaking....

First bit of advice, dont pay another penny until it is watertight, you are paying for a roof which is supposed to keep water out ...not in. If you can post up some pictures tommorrow it would give us a better idea of whats going on, sounds like a builder has been trying to do a roofers job...

    Insulating my Roof

Triso super 10 insulation, can be stapled onto the back of the rafters and is the equivalent of 200mm fibreglass insulation in u value. Costs around £180 per 20 m square but is worth it!

    Mortar mix

My favorite recipe is.... 10 shovels Soft washed/ plastering sand 1 Bag of dust 1 mug/cup of febmix. Dont let it turn over for more than a couple of minutes, i hate that "fluffy" muck that inexperienced labourers knock up.

    Alternative to slate?

Have a look at eternit thrutone slates or redland cambrian slates, both modern looking manmade slates. My recommendation would also be get separate trades to do the separate jobs, iwould want a roofer to do my roof and a plumber to do my plumbing. Builders who claim to do it all can often...

new roof leaking, photos here, help please!

maybe i was a little under on price at £400 as there will be the need to supply a bit more lead , undercloaking, eaves trays etc, i reckon its no more than a days work for two men. I wouldnt let this animal back on your roof even if he offers to strip the roof for free, he obviously isnt...

new roof leaking, photos here, help please!

Right where do we start! Check that tiles have enough headlap on every course for that pitch of roof, should be minimum 65mm headlap on those tiles, looks like tiles have been overspaced horizontally. The tiles that are cut into the velux, some have been left short and they are kicking up...
