Capping gas pipe - testing requirments

This thread is a good read, some good advice given. Bengasman was the first one to mention angle grinder, he may not have used one. That said I'm not a RGI. Or even a plumber!!

    Leaking Cast Iron Soil Stack

I'm curious, if you hit a cast iron soil stack with a hammer with the aim to create a hole for a strap-on boss, would it knock out a small peice or would it crack it? I know cast iron is brittle etc. Obviously is this case it worked but was he just lucky?

    Brass Fitting Prices

I'd be interested to know the answer to this, fair enough when it comes to compression fittings then the Kutterlites and Conex have a deeper fitting depth I think and are more reliable than the cheap ones. But endfeed I don't know, I mean copper is copper right?

    Let shower tray into wall?

Ah? So you don't need any aquapanel or tanking when the walls are solid. Makes sense, I'm only using a Mira Sport anyway.

    Let shower tray into wall?

Just one more thing, if shower tray/enclosure is going against a newly plastered wall (NOT dot & dab), does it need aquapanel behing the tiles? Or is aqualpanel only for studwalls?

    single radiator not heating

One method that works for me in this situation (posible airlock in return) is to undo the union a few turns into a wet vac or tray, it can remove the airlock. Even easier if the valve has a drain off. You may have to do this while system is running but its generally not a good idea to bleed...

Leak from 'ends' of radiator after HW cylinder re-fitting

I know what you saying bengasman, I've registered on loads of forums in the past with no bother but on here it was different. I wanted to call myself 'screwfix reject' but that was rejected and yet 'Dick Puller' obviously works (with space), every username I could think of was rejected...

    single radiator not heating

Is there a thermostatic valve on the rad, if so could it be a stuck pin? Whats all this free dangermouse business? :? Are we talking about Dangermouse46?, has he been banned?

Thanks Chris, just out of interest would you let them into solid walls? And is this done to minimise leaking?
