    PIR Sensor

To clarify, the wire hanging from my soffit is T&E. The PIR has only a live and neutral in, & live and neutral out. Do I just run the cable to the PIR (not connecting earth), then daisy chain live and neutral from PIR output, to the 5 downlighters? If I did this, would I have to leave my switch...

    PIR Sensor

The PIR has a live and neutral. No earth. If I go straight from source to PIR, what should I do with the earth? Also, does that mean each lamp then wont have an earth? The spec sheet says no earth is required as they are sealed units. The source wire is bang in the middle of my house above...

    PIR Sensor

I have just bought 5 downlighters and a PIR sensor for my soffits. The PIR has an input and an output. Do I have to wire the mains straight to the PIR, then daisy chain along to the downlighters from there or can I put it in anywhere? Only reason Im asking is because the location for the PIR is...

    Shower pressure query

Hot water at bath taps is fine but that comes from a different pipe routing. Yeh if I hold shower head at bottom of bath compared to holding it up in the air its worse but not much. Its just terrible in general. Maybe to do with the fact the hot water has to climb up from the cylinder to the...

    Shower pressure query

How is yours plumbed in? Yeh its nothing to do with the shower head as even if I take the hose off and turn it on, it just trickles out of the shower. Would removing the sieve filters on the water inlets on the bar make a difference?

    Shower pressure query

So if I fit a flange on top of tank, then tee off to outlets, & also shower pump, would this not make pump come on if I switch on a hot tap?

    Shower pressure query

So, when fitting a pump, I need a dedicated hot supply coming off the tank. Where can I get that if the pipe coming out the top of tank tees off down the way to other outlets, & up the way to the vent? Surely if I used that it would turn the pump on any time I used a tap?

    Shower pressure query

Hi My gravity fed shower has really low pressure. Ive checked the piping and the hot supply is fed from the vent pipe off the boiler. The pipe is teed out the top of boiler, It goes down the way to other outlets, and up the way is the vent line which hangs above cold tank in loft. The hot pipe...

    New boiler?

Hi Im still putting up with horrendously low water pressure to my shower. Its a gravity fed thermostatic shower. Im supposed to be getting a pump fitted soon but have been thinking. I will be fitting a new kitchen next year, and will be moving my boiler up into the loft. I know its a bit of a...

    Adding socket into cupboard

Okay I’ll take a look. If that is the case, could I use a switched socket with RCD built in rather than and FCU?

    Adding socket into cupboard

Okay thanks I think Ive got the shower pump socket sussed. Just out of curiosity, in future I may need extra sockets. What would I need to do to be able to do this, as you said from my setup I cant without RCD’s?

    Adding socket into cupboard

Okay thanks. So can I remove plug from shower pump and wire it into a switched FCU with a flex outlet or. Yeh that discolouration shows up worse in the picture. It was just that the wire had been stripped back to much. Sorted now

    Adding socket into cupboard

The wiring comes out of immersion at top of tank then into the wall through an unswitched flex outlet. The actual switch for the immersion is in the kitchen.
