I would consider that masticing the gap between wall and frame then overlapping a pvc stop bead on to the frame followed by a waterproof render would surfice. Finish with mastic between frame and bead...job done!

I find board finish will dry uniformly and will not tear as much when dry trowelling and flatenning before water application with the splash brush. Multi seems to go off in patches while other areas are not ready for that final dry polish leaving shiny patches. Maybe different with British...
