If life were that easy. The extractor fan is on my ceiling, connected to a piece of plastic tubing which then connects to a plastic 4" pipe which routes through the roof and then will fit my mushroom cowl. All I need is height of 4" pipe before I place mushroom cowl on top.

Cheers I will use insulation as I am using copper pipe. Regarding suspended ceiling its more of a ceiling lower that the original ceiling height is all. As we had an extension, so did a lower ceiling so that it was a uniform height.
