    Heating a conservatory - 2 x 1250w radiant heaters

HOW MUCH  Shop around you'll get a pay of decent heaters for 30-40 each and they will do a decent job!!! Better still, see if you can borrow one or get these http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/0522193/Trail/searchtext%3EHEATER.htm from Argos which you can plug in...

    Heating a conservatory - 2 x 1250w radiant heaters

I have just had a 4.5m x 3.5m conservatory built albeit with a plastic/solar roof. This currently has a single radiant/convection heater which works surprisingly well and I'm sure that 2 placed at opposite sides would work even better. I'm fitting electric underfloor heating with a quick warm up...

    cold radiator puzzle

The ongoing cold rad saga has taken a strange twist, it seems to work randomly about 1 day in 5 or so however I've recently noticed that it always comes on when the bath is run :? (when heating is also on) Can't think of any reason why this would affect the radiator, any thoughts?

    Draining rads with TRV's

I have to remove some radiators this evening but they have TRV's which if I'm not mistaken don't close the valve off completely as the minimum setting is the frost setting. So how do I do it, is it just a case of removing the TRV head or is there more to it than that. TRV's are Drayton TRV4's.

    Chrome Pushfit Isolating Valve

Need to move some radiators in the morning, to save draining down the entire system I was considering using the JG Push Fit Chrome Isolating Valves. I'd welcome any opinions on them, as once fitted they'll be under a brand new floor so will only be accessed if absolutely neccesary. I'm a...

    Can you double up underlay?

Just wondered if you can double up carpet underlay, I've got Seventh Heaven fitted and it's just about OK but was considering upgrading to Cloud Nine Cumulus. Before I do this I've enough spare Seventh Heaven to go over the existing stuff but not sure if its recommended or not.

    Which Makita Cordless?

Need a new combi drill for general DIY use, Screwfix have a couple of offers on 18V Makita's and there's also an additional 10% this weekend. 1. Makita 83191 Ni-Cad inc 3 batteries £99 2. Makita BHP452 Li-Ion inc 1 battery £149 No. 2 is probably a better drill but the single battery...

    realistic underfloor heating costs

Looks like a radiator it is then, i'm on oil fired heating so hopefully prices wont go through the roof again although long term I guess they'll have to. May look at underfloor as a back-up heat to torn on only when required.

    realistic underfloor heating costs

actually I was looking at the click-lok type flooring so replacing is an option if i use electric rather than wet underfloor. On the advice re: the standard rad I've been advised that you are no longer able to fit one in a conservatory

    realistic underfloor heating costs

It'll be a suspended floor and I'll insulate between that and any heating element. Looking at 150w ribbon or carbon mats which apparently have a very quick warm-up time :)

    recommended underfloor heating kits

I'm looking for a decent quality, DIY install friendly underfloor heating kit, I've seen this:- http://www.underfloorheating1.co.uk/product/Underfloor_Heating1_Single_Room_Kit Anyone used this or able to recommend anone else? :)

    realistic underfloor heating costs

I'm thinking of installing electric underfloor heating in a soon to be built conservatory which will have laminate flooring. Now I know how to calculate running costs based on theoretical usage i.e. the internal size is 12m2 and the mat will be 130watt/m2. So @ 10p per kw/h it'll be £3.77/day...

    Drayton TRV vs Homebase TRV

thanks for your comments, trip to the plumbers merchants it is then :D

    Drayton TRV vs Homebase TRV

Just went to Homebase to buy some replacement radiators, whilst doing so I thought I'd pick up some new TRV's to replace the existing standard valves. The Drayton TRV's were £44 each however the Homebase own brand were just £8.50. Now I usually believe in buying recognised brands however on 8...

    cold radiator puzzle

I've bled water through until it's hot, no air in the system. I do have a tank in the loft, seems to be working as it should. Pipes to valves also are cold, not changed anything in the past 2 months, prior to that I had removed a radiator but that shouldn't have affected anything.

    cold radiator puzzle

My bathroom radiator/towel rail has stopped getting hot, it's worked happily since installed 1 year ago and has standard non-trv valves. I've bled the rad until I eventually get hot water into it which took 15 mins or so but then it just goes cold again. I've also turned all the other rads in...

    Should I fit a Sentinel/Magnaclean?

Am I going to need to flush the system then, I wondered if I could just fit one and let it do its stuff ?

    Should I fit a Sentinel/Magnaclean?

I'm just in the process of replacing my house radiators (1 or 2 at a time as funds allow) and some of the pipework. I've re-filled the system with X100 inhibitor as the water from each old rad is very black in colour. The boiler is an old Worcester 12/14 oil burner, and whilst it runs happily...
