    Magna Clean 'and' Fernox?

It's actually a new system, got rid of all the copper and replased for plastic and hand flushed every rad outside with hose, so guess just fit the Magnaclean and add the Fernox on refill then? Thx

    Magna Clean 'and' Fernox?

Hi Considering installing a Magna Clean while system is empty but do I still add the Fernox inhibitor or does the Magna Clean override that? Cheers

    Can't increase pressure

Our bedroom rad in a newly plumbed system has loads of cold spots - the tallest highest rad in house, so presumed air but when I bleed only a small amount of air comes out (re: my post a couple of days ago). Can sometimes hear water moving inside, almost like slight squelching sound. Managed to...

    Cold rad

Sorry didn't see your initial reply... yes water comes out immediately most times, only the odd time a bit of air, v minimal. This is the rad in question (in case the unusual shape has any bearing?)...

    Cold rad

It's a brand new rad and new system with new inhibitor, can't be sludge can it? It's so annoying as there are 2 more rads on the same level which work fine. I shut them off to test and it def made it hotter but it's not consistent, sometimes it's hotter than other times. TRV is on max but...

    Cold rad

Have a rad which has cold spot on one side and most of the bottom. Have bled and no air comes out, so what is causing the cold areas? It's one of the top rads in house so presumed it was air, but the bleed key is on the hot side so is it poss that it is indeed air but it's not finding its way...

    Heat loss in pipes

Oh sorry, I thought PVC was renown as 'plastic' to most people, should have said HEP plastic push-fit fittings' shouldn't I!? Picky little tw@t! Gratitude?? Initially you were helpful, it's the sarcastic comments that crept in, along with your mates![/b]

    Heat loss in pipes

Well well, what a helpful bunch of sarcastic idiots you all are, eh? Maybe you should all just give up wasting your time answering threads on a forum, cos it ain't helping!! The bypass... sorry did I not mention I have 2 heat leak pipes connecting flow and return! ;) But... for the...

    Heat loss in pipes

Yes, it's a pretty simple installation: The whole system is controlled by 2x 3 zone Horstmann panels. From boiler - 28mm to pump, then tees off with 22 for UFH (only in kitchen/diner) with MV. The 28/rad flow has 4 MV's a various points to control ground floor, 1st floor front, 1ft floor rear &...

    Heat loss in pipes

Well I designed it, and plumbed the entire house... :) Plumber only connected up the boiler and that was only to get the cert! There's an MV on the 1st floor (3 story house) - I thought that heat wouldn't get past an MV when closed?

    Heat loss in pipes

But that would need to be on the 28mm flow pipe then? And all the system has just been filled inc inhibitor! :(

    Heat loss in pipes

But surely a NRV valve would be pointless as the heat is transferring in the direction of flow anyway. Do you mean the MV is still open slightly when you say 'passing'? But then the return pipes would be warm, no? I do have TRV's on all rads but I opened these to see if heat flowed through and...

    Heat loss in pipes

It's only on the flow. Not sure how it can be 'reverse' circulation, it's just the heat transferring surely? What is an NRV?

    Heat loss in pipes

I have a new heating system with 6 zones using motorised valves for: UFH, 4x rad zones and HW. But when only UFH in kitchen on, the heat still transfers thru rad circuit and goes straight up to top of house. Thought the MV's when closed would have stopped the water getting hot, beyond the closed...

    Advice on GU10

I bought some great fire rated GU10 downlights, but they only take the longer type of GU10 lamp. I don't want the low energy 7w Edison or 11w Megaman lamps as they need to be dimmable and I personally hate lamps which take 2 mins to reach full brightness, no what the saving! Are GU10's...

    Intermediate switch query

Hi I need to replace a 2g switch which was originally a grid switch with a 2 way and an intermediate switch for 2 floors in a hallway. If I buy a normal intermediate 2g switch, will this be ok for the what was just the 2w switch, ie. is it just a case of not connecting to all 4 connectors?

Can't source parts required by electrician

My electrician asked me to but an isco. Have I spelt this wrong as can't find anything online - it's a junction box type device, I think! Also need to get connection plates to fit on to std back boxes - the type where an appliance connects directly into it which has a feed from a fused spur...
