    samsung fridge woes...

The fridge get's it's cold air from the freezer section, there should be a vent in the top of the fridge part with a flap that allows cold air in when the fridge needs it, also check that the fan is running in the freezer.

    Portable Air Conditioner

Hi paul, these are OK but don't forget there is a 4" hose that comes out of the back that needs going outside through a window or door just like the hose from a dryer, this dumps the hot air outside. As for noise level there are usually 3 speeds, fast, very fast and noisy as hell  get a...

    Portable Air Cconditioners

I don't think you will get a portable one big enough to cool a room of that size :( When sizing up the AC there are a number of factors, how many people in the room, how many heat generating appliances and also heat gain through windows. I think you should seek professional advice for your...

    Fridge Freezer not cooling

If this is a frost free fridge freezer check the cooling fan underneath the cabinet make sure it is running and the condenser is not full of dust and fluff. My money is on the system being short of refrigerant because if there is no cooling fan under the fridge then the compressor uses the cool...

    AC Specialist please!!!

Split AC units have interconnecting pipework not exhaust duct, the 2 pipes are insulated and you can usually run to a max length of 30meters. If you are thinking of running ductwork to the room you want to cool I would forget it, it's expensive. I would tend to agree with r.bartlett, B&Q units...

    Fridge/Freezer not starting up(Proline)

The orange switch is the Fast Freeze button, basically it just overrides the thermostat to make the compressor run all the time. If you switch this on and the compressor doesn't run it sounds terminal, are you shore the compressor isn't running as some can be very quiet :o

    refrigerant

I cant see it being on the old gas as 404A came into use around 1997, More to the point if it was on the old gas the system used a mineral oil and the new gas uses a synthetic oil and you cant mix them, if you do the oils turn to a wax and knacker your compressor. Look for an identification...

    refrigerant

When a compressor has been off for a period of time the oil absorbs the refrigerant gas, so when the heat is applied when he unsweats the pipe the gas will leave the oil and when it escapes it is burnt by the Oxy torch. The black soot was from his oxy set, he should have opened the accetelene...

to anyone with experience of replacing fridge thermostats

Stevesey Wrote Actually its not a wire in the electrical sense - but a conductive tube (in the heat sense) to measure the temp of the cooling element. Actually it's a thin pipe called a phial that contains a gas that react's to temperature changes, as the temp increases and fall's so does...
