Is this a load of hokum

RF you are right about the zs issue. Most of the housing stock in our area(old) is TNS and generally get a measured zs of between 0.18 - 0.30, much less than if you bother to enquire and get the standard reply. However, I can see that the cables must be very expensive at todays prices. They...

Is this a load of hokum

Thanks for your illuminating replies. Makes you think TNS is more desireable. Suppose the 415v was caused by neutral back feeding to other houses? Is TNCS an economic choice for supply companies? Or are there real benefits to it?

Upgrade of TT Supply for PE & Earth bonding

You can upgrade the main bonding yourself and it is not notifiable. However the bathroom is a special location and fitting supplementary bonding could be a messy job and it is notifiable. There are ways round the latter particularly if your main bonding is upgraded to the 17th. It maybe easier...

    Electrical Certification

Technically I suppose you can't complain to Trading Standards until the job is finished and he has failed to provide certs. However perhaps a chat with them would be a good thing if you can do it without naming the contractor at this stage. He has dug a deep hole for himself. and as a...

    HELP!! - earth cable

It could be the situation is ok but further investigation is needed. Main protective bond is a fairly large green yellow cable (10mm2) that is connected to your main earth terminal(inside your cu or a metal block where the earthing conductor is). This MPB should connect from this point to entry...

Oh dear he really doesn't understand what rocky ground he is on, he should be biting your hand off as you are giving a great chance to come out unscathed. Electrical Certification

Bottom line he has installed electrics in your kitchen he must notify the local authority.....its his problem.....the penalties for not doing this run to £1000's of pounds. He sounds like a good tradesman so I hope this can be sorted out amicably, especially for him as his reputation would...

Part P and notification to LABC

Seems from past postings that all councils operate different schemes as they are still getting to grips with it. Don't phone just walk in and ask reception to see someone from Building Control. They are public servants and are very accessible. In our neck of the woods they operate a 2 tier...
