    Menvier TS400 probs...

Well your 20 years experience will tell you a battery marked 1994 is well and truly f***ed.

    Menvier TS400 probs...

Yes it mentions engaging walk test. I am not arguing with that but is that not part of systematically checking the system to find exactly what is at fault. E.g. you go through and disable each tamper bell tamper aux tamper until you find the problem. Therefore if you follow the flow chart with...

    Menvier TS400 probs...

Joe -90 I don't want to get involved in an arguement. As it happens I have not installed any ts400's I have installed countless other systems though. I am only going on the information I have which is the TS400/410 installation manual and as I said I have a listing on page 21 for fault finding...

No I was quoting form the fault fiding flow chart actually where it clearly states the tamper light will be on if the battery is removed or faulty. Page 21 of the installation manual entitled fault finding chart 2 - system does not set LV systems by the way

If the Tamper LED remains lit , disconnect the battery. If tamper LED goes out the tamper on the external siren is open. If the Tamper LED remains lit, the control panel is faulty. If the Tamper LED goes out the battery is faulty Copied this from the TS400 installation manual...

    Menvier TS400 probs...

With the battery removed and not in engineers mode the panel will flag a fault. The only way round this is to place resistors across the battery terminals to fool the panel into thinking it has a load. Incidentally bongos I have the user guide for this panel in PDF format should you require it

    Prox Tokens

Breezer see sense in some of your points however, as the OP mentioned system will be connected to central station. For them to have and maintain police response they will have to have the system set up so that only fobs will unset the system, install a shunt lock on the front door or in some...

    Prox Tokens

Well from our previous conversations you will know that I am a fan of galaxy equipment so as such I woulds reccommend it. The fobs on those are very reliable and easy to program. One thing I would do though is write a number on the fobs which corresponds to the user code they occupy. This way...

    Prox Tokens

Depends on what system they are offering you. Some are very reliable some not so much. The idea being you set/unset the system with the prox tokens to minimise false alarms. I'm guessing you've decided to go for the option with a digital communicator and connection to the police.

    Alarm Power Circuit

If it's a plug in alarm then it's not what we'd call a proper alarm. Proper alarm are wired to an unswitched non indicating fcu as per regs. My guess it's a toys r us system from B and Q or the like.

    Optima panel blowing fuse

Is the spur wired directly fro the CU. If so is it wired as an RCD protected circuit ? Your neutral may be on the wrong bus bar in the cu. Each time you apply power the breaker would then trip. Could be the transformer if so only thing you can do is take it back where you bought it and swap it...

telephone line split before master socket?

All wiring from the master socket onwards is your reponsibility so if you want to rewire it you can. However if you put a fault on it and BT come out they will charge you if the fault is not at the master socket.

alarm only shows power not day light.

Will either be the panel has defaulted in which case try the default code I think is 0123 or 1234 if that doesn't work then the NVM may of been corrupted by a spike. Try the codes and if that doesn't work you could try leaving it powered down for a few mins just have to put up with hthe outside...

    Intercom question

Depends on what system is installed. Some will take a universal handset from the likes of fermax. Others require a specific handset for the intercom system. Any info on the mnfr of the existing system. Plus the problem may be with the external speaker/microhpone not the handset.

    Scantronic Upgrade Quote-Taking the Mickey?

Try telling them that ! I'd say they still have a hell of a say in what goes on and I think in 5 years getting a police response for a residential alarm will be nigh on impossible

    Scantronic Upgrade Quote-Taking the Mickey?

I meant ACPO frequently change the requirements to keep and regain police response. PD6662 and BS EN 50131 are a totally different kettle of fish. I refer to the introduction of confirmed signalling, Fob s to unset and introduction of shunt locks to comply with false alarm reduction. Not to...
