You have got the same boiler as me :) :) There is a rubber diaphragm inside the valve, and it sounds like its perrished. Get a new one from The boiler shop its easy to replace if your diy skills are up to it

This motor only has the one windind and no external or centrifugal switch, the motor you are suggesting is like a fridge motor, me being a fridge engineer i know this type, I just havnt come across a 3Kw motor like this before with only one capacitor and no brushes. Cheers anyhow :wink:

When I say buzzed, I mean I,m getting continuity through the windings, forgotten the reading. Do you think the capacitor is a run capacitor, ie the windings require the capacitor in series or parralell to allow it to run. I'll pobably try a new cap as there only cheep and if that doesnt work...

When you closed off the other rads did you just turn the thermostatic to zero, this doesnt completely shut the valve. Try closing all the return valves on the other rads and see if you get any flow through the cold rad. System may need balancing, let me know how you get on.

Can you not take the back panel off the machine, if not there should be an access panel to get to the motor. sound like the belt has stretched or the adjuster bolt has come loose on the motor, i would get a new belt anyway. hope this helps :wink:

Thanks for that, since i've removed the rear of the control panel that clamps the cables in place i hav'nt had the problem. i can only see one pcb is that right for a sime 80E :?: the one i can see has the resister pots on it, where is the ignition one :?:

Cheers for that, I think I've sussed it. when I drop the front control panel down on its hinge the whole system works ok, I think there must be a dodgy connection in the panel or a broken wire, Im gonna look into it further cheers

Help, my boiler has been OK for the past 7 years, but now the boiler will only fire up for about 10 to 15 seconds. when the heating comes on and is calling for heat, the boiler fires up but goes off after about 15 seconds, the pipes leaving the boiler are only warm even though the stat is set on...

No I don,t have a warranty on them they are about 6 years old. the units are in a hardwood frame and sealed in with a bit of silicon. if I replace the units do i still use silicon to seal them in place or is there something more suited to hardwood frames. cheers

I'm looking to replace the glass double glassed units in a hardwood door,16 in total. what do I seal the glass into the frame with, is it just silicon or putty or is there something else. any advice welcome
