    Texacom Premier Questions

Thanks. Each sensor has two resistors in it - one across the the alarm and one in parallel. I checked the use manual for the Accord and it is called Double Balanced. Is this the same as your reference to 1k, 1k? EOL by Aldous Voice, on Flickr

    Texacom Premier Questions

It is an Ademco Microtech Accord XPC fitted by ADT at the request of the previous owners (we moved in back in 2009). I defaulted the panel and have the engineers code. There's not much wrong with the panel but I'd like to fit one more sensor as part of the upgrade and am unsure about...

    Texacom Premier Questions

Hi, My next house project is to replace our aging alarm panel. All my sensors are wired in and most have been replaced during the decorating. The bell boxes (F&R) are in good working order and I put fresh batteries in them last year. So that leaves the panel and keypad. I am thinking of...

    Miele vacuum motor teardown

Thanks - problem solved. I found that if I simply held the impeller with my left hand, I could undo the nut with a socket wrench in my right hand - simples! Sometimes I wonder how I made it this far in life... PS: It was a right hand thread.

    Miele vacuum motor teardown

Thanks. Do I need to hold the impeller then? I thought I had to hold the shaft at the other end! The impeller is made of aluminium so I'll try carefully....

    Miele vacuum motor teardown

I'm tearing down my Miele vacuum after I used it to clean up a ton of filler dust (which it didn't like one bit). I've got to the motor but can't figure out how to get the impeller off - there doesn't seem to be an easy way of holding the shaft to undo the but. Can someone point me in the...

Drilling a hole through kitchen wall for cooker hood extract

Just to add to Pinenot's point about a cheap core drill for a one off job - I bought a cheap core drill off eBay for £25 to drill out for a 5" duct. For the off off hole it worked fine.

Concerned I have a problem with my hot water system

I revisited this today as I am fitting a kitchen next week and thought it'd be useful to be able to stop the hot water. I fitted new full bore isolation values to both the 22mm pipes exiting the tank. I also fitted a push fit end cap over the vent. With the valves closed and the cap in...

    most reliable cars ?

I have a Diesel 2007 (8th Gen) Honda Civic and it has been utterly reliable over 100k miles. In that time I have only spent money on servicing, tyres, brakes and one clutch. It returns a decent MPG and is no slouch. Tax is low (I think it was £140). The only thing that went wrong was the...

    Woke up to a leak!

A builder friend was in the area today so we spent a few hours on the roof. We stripped back the tiles and discovered that the water was seeping in under the edge of the tile circled red: This area of the roof had been repaired before and the there wasn't enough overhang. We slid in...

How good or bad is IKEA delivery service?

I bought a load of kitchen units for my garage from Ikea. The delivery service was outsourced to another company. I was able to phone up in the morning and get a rough time of delivery. In the end they couldn't keep to the time as the van got a puncture. They did phone me to tell me this...

    Woke up to a leak!

It was even worse this morning so I cut a hole in the plasterboard and poked my head into the void. The water is dripping off the firing that is attached to the the joist directly underneath the join between the tiles and the flat roof. I went back up on the roof but couldn't see where the...
