Correct way to flush central heating system

Two of the 3 downstairs do have drain offs. The third is a new corner column rad which does not, and there's no way I'll get that off on my own. Weights a tonne. :/

Correct way to flush central heating system

I've had plenty of problems with the heating/boiler since buying this house earlier this year. At one point part of the pipe work was completely solid with sediment. The gas engineer found it and cleared it, but I'm sure plenty more lurks in the system. My plan is; Shut off water to F&E...

    Boiler not switching off

Fingers crossed. Thought I'd jinxed it as I turned the thermostat down a few degrees and the flame icon was out, but the boiler fired up. Thankfully it was for the hot water on the timer. lol Excellent stuff. Really appreciate your help mate. :)

    Boiler not switching off

Ok, I might have managed to fix it. I bought a new room thermostat, just in case. And it is switching off the boiler. Have tried it quite a few times and seems to be ok. The light on the boiler that flashes when requesting heat before it fires up, goes off. Just going to wait for...

    Boiler not switching off

That's correct, although mine sames TIMED and ONCE. The problem does only occur when the programmer is set to ON. As far as I can tell. Oh ok, so that was perfectly normal. Ok, boiler is on, will try all the combo's and see what happens. Might take a while. Really appreciate the help. :)

    Boiler not switching off

Ok, I'm gonna keep reading this over until I understand. lol Just to clarify; when the programmer is on CH TIMER, it switches off when it should do (not sure about when it meets requested temp as only set it to come on for 5 mins to test). When the programmer is on CH ON, this is when it...

    Boiler not switching off

Ok cool. Sorry, bit confused now. So when the programmer is taken off, what should happen? You said if the pump stops it's the programmer that's knackered. But if it carries on the wiring is faulty after it. :? I do have one. And no I don't. Is it easy to learn? lol

    Boiler not switching off

Pump kept running. Checked all the wires and seemed fine. However. I've noticed that I have no wire going in to the terminal point numbered 2. On the back of the programmer this says heating off. :? Have I wired it incorrectly? Is this why it isn't switching off? Edit: Wiring is...

    Boiler not switching off

I'm having problems with my boiler switching on and off constantly when requesting heating or water, but I've now discovered another problem. When the temperature being requested by the room thermostat is met, the boiler doesn't shut down. It just keeps going until I turn it off by the...

Boiler constantly turning on and off

Also, my 3 port valve (Honeywell), the outer case was quite warm, and taking that off, the round motor cover was roasting hot, even though the heating and hot water have been off for about 2 hours. Is this normal?

Boiler constantly turning on and off

Thanks for that. What exaclty is the manual bypass valve? At the bottom of my hot water tank, I have a pipe coming out that feeds to the pump I think. I've got a simple isolation valve. Is it that? Or is that where it should be?

Boiler constantly turning on and off

I've got one less radiator then I did have when I bought the house, but all the replacements are bigger. Yes balancing should remedy the one cold rad. It has been hot before as have they all, at the same time. That's something that is probably a bit beyond me but I'll try and figure it out...

Boiler constantly turning on and off

UPDATE: Sorry all, went for a bath, thought I'd leave the hot water and heating on anyway. Turned the room thermostat down. Rads were still really hot. Just turned the hot water back on to the timer on the programmer. Left the heating on. However, room stat is saying 25degress (yes Im...
