    Well I haven't fitted one of these, but every other RF system that I have installed has got dip switches in the transmitter and receiver that can be reset to suit the environment. The MI's will tell you everything you need to know.

    It's possible that another RF unit nearby is having some effect on your dads receiver. The symptoms of it working sometimes, but not others, certainly fit. If this is the case it should be possible to alter the addressing scheme to counteract this.

    Didn't the bloke on rogue traders say that he had to replace the coil? he turned up with a diverter valve which oddly did not solve the problem of a non firing boiler. So, my guess is the OP is talking about the DV.

    What parts are not instantly available for a Honeywell 3PV? I would expect all serviceable parts over the counter at any decent merchants.

    Unless you have pipe-work of unknown provinence buried in screed, you should have no worries re a system boiler. If you really want an open vented 'A' rated one, worcester do a good 'un.

    Check voltage to white wire on 3PV, if present verify orange 0V. Otherwise, if white not 230V track back to room stat and finally programmer. The answer is seconds away.
