I'm not so sure Eric, probably they can get away with a whole lot with some small print and a bank of lawyers, sadly

    Sockets going live

Let me clarify - your 'advice' is crap eg advising people to make their installation less safe. I'd love to explain more but frankly can't be bothered wasting my time on you.

    Sockets going live

hmm, the underground earth was entirely severed but no problems with the live conductors/rest of the cable??? Not something I've ever come across... can main bonding conductors also be used as circuit earths? Winston is talking rubbish btw, ignore their 'advice'!

    Export earth or not?

I need to put in a supply for a shed/workshop about 60m from the incoming TNS service, which appears to be fed by a dedicated (only serves this one house) pole-mounted transformer, Ze=0.23ohm. No extraneous conductive parts in the shed/workshop (wooden construction and plastic water supply)...

    Conduits in insulated walls

if you've 8 weeks to get the conduit in, what's the delay in getting an electrician involved now? Even if they're just round to quote they will probably propose suitable/suggest preferred installation methods, which would likely save you money over forum-educated guesswork. As RF said one 25mm...

    Conduits in insulated walls

I don't do my 3rd amendment update course until next month, but that's a new one on me.... mechanically protected, or earth shielded cable, or earthed conduit yes, but install normal cables anywhere just because they're on an RCD? No.

Black and red twin and earth

Surveyors haven't a clue about electrics anyway, you'd have needed an electrician to inspect & report

Consumer unit not 17th edition edition

I'd agree with others the report is poor. Unless the cooker socket is likely to supply outdoor equipment there's no code 2 needed for lack of RCD's in my opinion although getting this one socket covered by (30ma) RCD (or perhaps the plate replaced with a non-socket one if plenty other sockets...

    Consumer unit area

A consumer unit sounds like a unit a consumer has (as in a cycle helmet is a helmet a cyclist has). We don’t call a DB in a commercial premises a ‘business unit’, but the client doesn’t know that. if you tell someone about their ‘consumer unit’, it implies they are a consumer, as you have done...

    Consumer unit area

Consumer Unit is a terrible name, not even vaguely electrical, and patronising to boot. They should be called 'distribution board' or 'electrical board/panel' or 'mains circuit board', or something. Depending on the situation i still use 'fuse-board' often, as everyone knows what you mean...

Safe to run cables through wall?

A good signal requires direct 'line of sight' to the transmitter. Glasgow is covered in hills. What's so hard to believe?
