Combi, Hot water mare, Girfriend hassling me! Please help.

Get a less demanding girlfriend. By the way, don't you take hot baths ? Why did it take this long to find out ? Sorry about that. Is this a new problem with the boiler ?

    Descaling a combi boiler

Well you can put general cleaner in the system, which will pump through the heat exchanger, and should remove scale albeit slowly. You then have to drain and flush the system a few times. Or you can drain down the boiler and remove the heat exchanger and put some directly in to it and leave...

Are your sample results back yet ?

    Thermostatic Radiator Valves

No, they control the water flowing into the radiators. If the room is hot, they will allow less water into the radiators, hence the radiator does not heat the room up. But the boiler will be running all the time. Having TRVs will control the radiators though. When all the rooms are hot...

    Draining and Filling System

I did this on my combi yesterday and it worked fine. I had added some Fernox SuperConcentrate Central Heating Restorer (about 25 quid, comes in a mastic gun cartridge for adding through a radiator). just over a week ago, let it run around for a while. Then yesterday I drained it out, filled...

    boiler not firing

Has it just failed - and was it a paid-for tradesman who was adding the radiator ? If so, get them back to sort it out. At the very least they ought to have turned on your central heating and demonstrated the radiator was getting hot before you paid them ! But as for your question, if it...

Baxi Solo 2 PF 80 Boiler

Is the fan actually running at the start up of the boiler ? And are the fins the right shape, clean etc. Is the flue clean ? Obviously starting to check air flow etc is wandering into CORGI country - be careful.

    After replacing pump problems occurred

Could still be air in there. Keep bleeding it, and check the water pressure is in there.

    valve stuck?

It is on my combi. It also seems that the three way valve on mine is hydraulic (i.e. no motor) so as long as theres enough mains water pressure, it will switch the CH circuit to pump around the secondary heat exchanger instead, transfering heat to the cold water which then gets hot and comes...

    To Power Flush or Not??

That Fernox "SuperConcentrated Restorer" stuff can be added via the radiators using a mastic gun, and its not too difficult to do. I have some sloshing around at the moment, and it made the very slightly unpleasant noises in my boiler go away. Will be rinsing it out this weekend and replacing...

    To Power Flush or Not??

Powerflushing is normally for systems which have muck in them - i.e. corrosion products sitting in the bottom of the radiators, making them cold. If you have a new system (inc new pipes & radiators ??), you wouldn't expect to have much sludge in there. Some unscrupulous engineers are prone to...

URGENT - Hyrdrogn in NEW Central Heat Systm.

Hydrogen should pop - its a mini explosion. If its slow burning or a yellow flame, its not pure hydrogen or just hydrogen. Something funny is going on here, and you ought to ask the installer back to sort it out. I'd be suprised if this is what he planned or thought he'd put into your house...

    Power flush problems

Surely the hot water should not be contaminated ? You had the radiators flushed not the HW system. Unless its primatic, your system should keep HW and CH water separate. Sounds like your 'engineer' may have connected the flushing equipment to the wrong pipes....?

Radiator hot at the top but cold at the bottom

This happens when there's sludge collecting in the radiator. If you don't have anti-corrosion chemicals in the water in your central heating, the radiators corrode over time, and the sludge (essentially rust) collects somewhere. A solution is either to shift it with chemicals put into the...

Biasi boiler on/off every few seconds

Is the pump running OK ? May be it is not shifting the heat fast enough. Any funny (new) noises from the boiler ? Do the radiators and HW get hot (or as hot as 'normal' ?) I'm suprised your control board is letting the boiler cycle like that but I'm not familiar with that model so I don't know.

    power shower

Well if you go for a mains-fed electric shower you want to get one with the highest power (wattage) possible, so that it can warm as much water up as possible. They are a bit expensive to run though if you work it out but then replacing your water tank will be a large outlay at the start. How...

    Contious Increasing Boiler Pressure

It is dangerous, but your boiler should have a pressure relief value, but this is emergency safety protection rather than something which is supposed to be used. Has this just started happening ? Do you have a filling loop attached to the boiler? It will most likely be a short piece of...

Yeah that's exactly how they were designed, they are supposed to keep you up all night with noise and worry.
