Which fixings for securing to travertine?

Jason The rad fixings are just stainless screws with rawlplug type fixings which certainly won't reach into the block wall. What would you suggest? I am guessing the trouble will be to get a fixing with a small stainless head screw that will be long enough? PP

Levelling a very uneven wooden subfloor

'G' loading is recorded for landings and any 'G' limit exceedance will be followed up. You would be amazed at just how hard a landing can be before any 'G' limit is exceeded....he builds em well that Mr. B! As for 'passenger abuse', well what you may consider 'abuse', the pilot may consider...

Where can you get quality window furniture?

I am looking for replacement handles for all my timber framed windows. I don't mind paying quite a bit for real quality, but having Googled for ages I haven't really seen anything that stands out as extra special. These days there are real quality ranges of things like radiators, taps...

Levelling a very uneven wooden subfloor

Bit off topic (well a lot actualy!), but gcol you will find there are many, many reasons why an aeroplane is landed firmly. Your perception of a 'good' landing, like most passengers, is that the smoother it is the better it is. However, if you ask Mr Boeing what constitutes a 'good' landing he...

Ok More help needed from you experienced tilers/ bathroom fitters. My stone is now up and grouted, sealing to follow in a day or two. Then I come to the fittings, which is where I am unsure. I have to fit an SBH stainless towel rad, like this...

    Tanking Kit - Cheapest

The Dunlop kit has plenty of 'gum' but not much tape, supposedly enough to do three sides of a shower cubicle if that helps. I have used it and it is very simple and effective.

Levelling a very uneven wooden subfloor

If you are going to lift the existing flooring, why not just put 4x2 timbers either side of the existing joists but attach them so the tops are level? If you look at http://www.diynot.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=79838&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0&sid=714a6065312893d1cb8ef819c044b9d7 I...

Charging a car battery by driving it

Or maybe he drives a 'touring car' with the little jacks on each corner....I guess then he would need the battery to get the engine started to run the hydraulic pump that supplies the jack pressure!

A bit off topic, but why is timber sold as one size, but actually measures smaller, like in the link posted above?

Bathroom Refit - Removing Chipboard Floors

No Moz! Just uploaded via a hosting site  Just a shame my tiling skills weren't up to that standard. My next project will be smaller tiles, which will give me a fighting chance.

Bathroom Refit - Removing Chipboard Floors

Been really busy at work, and as I posted the large format stone proved too difficult to get a good finish without some practice, so I have been waiting for two months for a tiler who came recommended. He started last week and is finishing off early this week coming. Here are a couple of...

Cutting a square in a floor tile

Am I missing something, or am I correct in thinking that if you are tiling around a wet room floor drain as described, don't you need to account for the falls to the drain? Surely just cutting a square out of the middle of a tile is not going to achieve this? Don't you need to cut the tile...

    Creaking stairs/floors in new build

Glad my experiences helped! I am no flooring expert, I am sure Matty will post a suitable answer to your specific flooring questions. I am unsure of suitable substrates for engineered or solid wood flooring, I would GUESS that correctly fixed chipboard would be fine, but ply better. I would...
