    Building Regs.

Never heard of needing regs to insulate an existing property.. A new build yes, but not an existing.. To be sure, because all councils seem to differ these days, just ring your local council, ask for building regs, they will tell you..

    HELP THE FLOORS ARE LIFTING,

Hi Harry, Maybe a bit late but,,, a Bosch multi tool is the same as a Fein just their own version. I use it all the time, great for what you need doing but blades are expensive. It will take time for the floor to sit back flat, if you have a timber sub-floor you can put a couple of screws in...

    Damp concrete floor.

You can lay a liquid DPM over the concrete once the hole you have dug is patched in with more concrete. I don't buy anything from wickes and can't imagine their dpm to be up to standard but i have never bought from wickes so i don't know. A dpm that will work is available from from...

    Screed thickness / UFH

4.5" screed + 3" insulation + .5" tiles = 8 inches. What about the other 3 ? Increase your insulation (ring manufacturer for advice) or lay a sand blinding before insulation.

    Un-Level floor remedy?

4mm per metre, pretty average . I'd just try it as it is. You could use packers underneath if not totally happy but then you'd probably notice them at the low end. And to level the floor properly is quite a big undertaking,, i'd just put up with the 15mm.. and hang a picture at 92.3 degrees :D

plastic sheet between underlay and carpet

Agree with ladylola,, which if you don''t know the chords are::: C, D Emajor.. Well thats the intro anyway,,, If the subfloor is concrete then a plastic sheet may be fitted as a short term solution. If it's timber then you shouldn't use a plastic sheet at all. As ladylola says, best...

    Concrete Laitance and Epoxy paint

Firstly and most important,,, Was it a concrete screed or a anhydrite screed ?? Concrete is usually supplied ready mixed or mixed on site with 20mm stone in the mix. Anhydrite is applied by pump and has no stone in the mix. Either way, Laitance almost always occurs with either screed...

    Solid Wood Fitting Query

Yes, maybe elatilon is better than when i first used it 10 years ago. Can't find anything on their site that says it incorporates a dpm though i only had a quick look, that would save a lot of time and money. To me, a solid wood floor should be solid fixed, if so it can last hundreds of years...

Replacing boards in solid engineered oak flooring

OK Remove the beading that covers the last plank, there's a slither you need to remove first (3 plamks in all). I'ts only about 20mm wide and it doesn't look like theres much room to remove it as there should be a gap of 10mm/15mm between the last plank and the wall. You have about 5mm. The...

    floor screed

Before you proceed the screed should be completely dry which will take approx 3 months. Or,,, use an epoxy resin DPM . These are quite expensive but mean you can continue work immediately. You will have to check wether your tile adhesive is suitable and will adhere to the dpm though, ring...

    floor screed

1, are you sure it was sharp sand and not soft sand ? 2, What sub-floor was it applied to ? soil, existing concrete etc ? Generally a 80mm screed woud have stone in it to make it concrete, just sand/cement at this thickness is too weak. Also, all screeds once dried have a dusty layer on...
