    New plaster, old stains

Might be condensation forming in the chimney . Take the vent off (If you can ) and see if there is a draught, as there might be something causing condensation in the flues, just light a taper and see if the chimney draws the smoke up. Pity you cant get a chimney sweep to rod it for you and you...

SBR slurry prior to dot and dab

The reason I had to put a scratch coat on was because my walls are about 18" to 20" thick and it is all stone rubble and anything else that went into the mix. But you might get away with it on your slurry. Make sure you put loads of dots on the boards and make some wedges to put under the board...

SBR slurry prior to dot and dab

If there is definitely no damp coming thru or on the wall then I would get a grinder and criss cross the wall with it to give the dry wall adhesive a key. And if you have got the room I would dot and dab polystyrene backed plaster board on the wall. It will give you a good warm wall. A lot of...

Can I safely remove external render bridging DPC?

I think by the look off the bricks that most of the faces of the bricks have eroded over time and without the faces it has made the bricks quite porous. Maybe worth getting some prices for having the house rendered or dashed.(lf there are any other houses that have been dashed )Dash will...

Can I safely remove external render bridging DPC?

Put some photos up of the outside wall and also some photos of where the damp is on the inside. It sounds like you have got damp tracking from the outside to inside. But it may also be rising up from below ground level..How long have you had the house and is there damp anywhere else in the house?

    Crumbling Plaster

I have come to realise that what I posted last night was completely different from what you have.I automatically thought of what I had done to my own property and I had it in my head that you had the same scenario but you havent,:( But what the lads have said is more appropriate to your problem...

    Crumbling Plaster

The walls I think will be lath and plaster. I would get all the old plaster off down to the laths| It will be very dusty and a lot of mess so wear a good quality mask and try to not break or pull the laths off .After you have done that see what the laths are like and if they are wet and loose...

    Removing pebble dash

It depends on how much of a key the dash has got on the wall.If the guys did the job properly then you will probably lose most of the face's off the brick work. Or if by chance the never keyed the dash in well, then it might come off in sheets!! But having said that it looks like they knew what...
