What size screws - Kitchen cabinets on battened wall

That was my initial concern, celcon blocks seem to be unpredictable. Then again, if the screws can jack the timber off the wall, would it actually hold the cabinets ok!? I was going to wait until I have the brackets anyway, and measure them up. Thanks

What size screws - Kitchen cabinets on battened wall

Many thanks, I had thought that maybe 50mm wouldn't quite reach the back of the batten with the thickness of the bracket and plaster included. Will probably do what you said then and use a 60, and just go into the block a bit. Thanks

What size screws - Kitchen cabinets on battened wall

Hi all I have a battened and boarded wall i need to attach kitchen cabinets to (Wall cabinets 900mm tall) The 'battens' are 3x2 CLS on edge, so a thickness of 38mm, with plasterboard to a total thickness of 50mm. Then skimmed. There is a horizontal length of CLS at the correct height for...

Is this torch ok for solder ring fittings.

Hey no problem, it does make interesting reading anyway. I must admit i do tend to find when i have paid people to do work, i've rarely been happy with the work done - but i will accept that not everyone is like this at all. I just prefer to do it myself - but as rightly pointed out above, i am...

Is this torch ok for solder ring fittings.

Many thanks for your input. I suppose since the pipes will likely be boxed in and hidden anyway, i shouldn't worry then!

    Boxing in gas pipes

Hi, just a few questions that i cant seem to find the answers to. *Can anyone confirm that the requirements for ventilating gas pipes is no ventilation if under 0.01m²? Does the length of the pipe/box have relevance as well? *If over 0.01 but under 0.04 i can add a soffit vent (top and...

Is this torch ok for solder ring fittings.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Good to know they look ok - even if a bit too much solder, i assume its because i had a bit too much flux, or is it something else? I didn't wipe the damp cloth at all - once cool i gave it a quick polish with red scourer, and that was it. I think i should have held...

Is this torch ok for solder ring fittings.

Gave this a go the other day, i think the joint looks ok, would appreciate some feedback if possible? Do the joints look over/underheated? Does it look like the solder goes all the way enough, or should i have held the flame a moment longer? I also assume where the solder has come out too much...

Wall starters on dot and dab wall

Hi, going to be building a small wall to block up a small opening, and will need to use starters. The wall is about 75cm in width, and I'll be using 4inch celcon blocks. One side of the wall will abut an unfinished (ie no plaster) block wall at 90deg, and the other will abut a wall that has been...

Is this torch ok for solder ring fittings.

Thanks for your replies. Thanks for the detailed response - a few questions: I was going to go and buy some emery paper, but i have red Scotchbrite - would that be ok? I have some LaCo Flux, no brush included - is a flux brush any different to a spare paintbrush or similar? Do you heat the...

    Box in Electric supply

Something like this? https://www.toolstation.com/marshall-tufflex-mono-10-trunking/p38286?store=KC I don't really want to go near it; but I also want to finish the walls in the whole room (it's not a garage - more of a workshop). Would it be better to board the whole wall with the 3x2 on the...

Waste and copper in the wall

Many thanks - would galvanised clout nails into the blockwork at angles be ok - like you do with with conduit? Ok to then foam them in?

Waste and copper in the wall

Hi all I am hoping to redo the cloakroom soon, and intending to hide the pipes in the wall. We have insulated plasterboard fixed to a block wall (not sure how its fixed though) then tiled over. My intention is to 'chase' the insulation behind the plasterboard to expose the blocks, then fix...
