    Help choosing Cordless drill ???

You have probably made your mind up by now but here is my thoughts anyway. I have the £99.99 Dewalt (from B&Q with anxtra 15% off!) very good solid bit of kit for DIY. Hammer goes through brick and block no problem( but not like my SDS). Bargain at the price I also have the £99.98 Makita...

No need for a toaster though, just leave the bread on the work top for 2 minutes and it's done!

How do I wire up the Sunvic TLX7501 digital thermostat

I would expect the brown to be live (from programmer) and blue to be switched live (call for heat). In which case brown to 'C' and blue to '2' (ON) as per the wiring diagram in the instructions.

How do I change a plug?

It may be a US import of any quality (good or bad). A lot of US appliances I have seen in properties we have rented for holidays (toasters, coffee makers etc) have non polarised two core shotgun flex like that in the picture. Presumably double insulated so no earth. Some stuff does have a...

    landing light question

Well there's your problem. I like downlights in the right place, but I'm not sure hall, stairs and landing is one of them. You need general area lighting and you have small focused spotlights. But since you have them and I guess you like them, your best option would be to have the middle...

    Discovered double spurs

Because those trailing sockets are protected by the 13mp fuse in the plug at the other end of the lead :) Same principle as adding a FCU before the spurs, you can then chain as many as you like as they are protected by the 13Amp FCU.

    TT and RCD

Read from page 23 of the On Site Guide. In summary all circuits must be RCD protected. All of these circuits need 30mA RCD; circuits with buried cables less than 50mm not in earthed steel conduit , all circuits of locations containing bath or shower, circuits with socket outlets not...

Which prime number? 91=13*7, 49=7*7 Neither are prime. sqrt91*sqrt49=sqrt(91*49)=sqrt4459=66.7757440991862

3rd Year apprentice looking for help

Well the answer is 66.77574409918619 (enough decimal places?). If you can calculate the sqrt of 91(9.539392014169456) in your head I'm a Dutchman. :D or may be you have memorised the square roots of all integers from 1 to 100? You didn't mean 81 did you?

change single pendant to halogen down lights.

That sounds like you are connecting them in series :o If you daisy chain them do it in parallel. Live loop in, live loop out: neutral loop in, neutral loop out at each light until you get to the last one when you stop.

    PME conversion MEB upgrade

I thought conduit would look neat but at DPC level around the back and side of the house and behind some foliage you won't see much of it (and the Sky cable is already clipped around). May go with the conduit though. I will bond the oil. I need the bonding whatever but is the switch to PME...

    PME conversion MEB upgrade

I can get a photo of the oil set-up tomorrow. Boiler house is separate to main house but attached to garage which is attached to house. Oil line in copper comes through external wall 300mm then valve then rubber pressure hose to boiler. I know the requirement is min 10mm but I was going to...

3rd Year apprentice looking for help

Is it a VO ELCB covering the whole installation or an RCD on the board? If the MCB trips it's an over current fault, if it is a VO ELCB then the fault is phase to earth somewhere in the shed wiring. If it is an RCD then there could be phase to neutral short giving the ove rcurrent fault...

    PME conversion MEB upgrade

I have oil coming into a boiler house, connection from the short length of copper to boiler is by rubber hose. I think there is an argument for not bonding this but I was going to extend the bonding (unbroken) through to the oil. I was going to add a MET I assumed the DNO would do a link to...

Where to buy a double pole pull-cord switch for bathroom fan

Yes they are double pole (4 plus earth) (though B&Q site says it is single pole it is not). With a switch (or socket or connection unit or any other similar accessory) the rating is a maximum it can handle, you can use a smaller current on a higher rated switch but not the other way round...
