Follow the manufacturers instructions. A difference in level of 35-40mm is probably beyond most leveling compounds. Sand cement would be the best bet then as most levelling compounds are NOT moisture tolerant you should DPM and then level. Check for compatability between DPM and Leveling...- tall_tone

Is your floor engineered wood or laminate? You need to be sure any extra lacquer coat will stick. Many pre-finished engineered boards have Ali Oxide coatings on them which resist further lacquer coats. Before doing the whole floor do a small test area. Maybe you should try a flooring...- tall_tone
