Any particular reason why you want a combi? You should look at an unvented system that way you can still have immersion back up just incase a fault occurs. 6xx series valliant are well regarded if you go down that route. In my opinion a big combi should do ok with 2 showers going.

It looks carp imo. Better off with nothing or some hawk or boss compound. Some plumbers tighten them more than others and i think thats where the whole difference of opinion comes from with regards to compounds and ptfe. I tend to tighten my joints until the squeal!

yes you can get NR valves for waste pipe, however they are supposed to be easily accessible as they can clog easily. McAlpine do them iirc.
