    What system to DIY?

There are plenty on here to help with any Galaxy questions at any time of day. Probably better support than you'd get from Honeywell anyway. :)

    What system to DIY?

Honeywell IS215TCE are nice small and reliable PIR's at around £10 a sensor. Lots of low cost sensors, so plenty to choose from. The Honeywell plastics don't tend to yellow over time. Elmdene contacts are decent, but generic contacts are usually fine. With the Galaxy sometimes it's best to...

    What system to DIY?

It's pretty easy. I'd say easier than some of the DIY panels :) There are a couple of small gotchas with the telephone line volts that needs disabled and a DD243 setting that needs changed to allow keypad code unsetting, but most other settings are fairly straightforward. There's always...

    What system to DIY?

I think securitywarehouse are the cheapest online e-tailer for security stuff. But if you're prepared to wait a few days on Ebay, then you'll save 50%. Also, contact the sellers on Ebay, they're certain to sell direct.

    What system to DIY?

It's not really about better, but if you want basic, then you can get cheaper. You asked for remote, so that's why I said the Galaxy, as it can be expanded to give remote and also wireless with the addition of the RF portal. Sparky Mark may step in here to give device on the low cost DIY...

Visonic Powermaster Or Texecom Premier Elite?

The Galaxy has a proper full feature lcd touch screen not just a pre-printed touch display. It's expensive and only for Dimension and Flex versions though. Most people are looking for some sort of app based remote nowadays though.

    What system to DIY?

TBH, Ebay is your best bet. There are a few suppliers dedicated to selling new Galaxy kit. I've bought loads of G2 panels from sourcesecurity and they've been excellent with delivery within a couple of days.

    What system to DIY?

Galaxy G2-12 allows iPhone & Android based full remote control. At £35 for the panel, £35 for keypad and £49 for IP board, it's the cheapest of the decent brands that can offer this. It's unlikely that your smoke alarms will have any clean switched outputs to connect with an alarm panel.

    Galaxy Keypads

The Mk8 usually cost a little more. I gave my wife the option of MK8 or TouchCenter in the hallway, but she said neither, so I fitted an MK7 inside the cupboard and one at the back door instead. She said the MK8 looked like a big calculator and the touch center was just too big. It would be...

    Galaxy Keypads

Get an Ethernet module and load the keypad up on your iPhone or Android phone. No wires, no holes and you can set from your bed if you've forgotten to set. The flush mount Galaxy keypad is too big and ugly. If you must have a keypad, then be sure to get a CP038, as you'll need to turn the...

    Inherited alarm advice

Yes, the Galaxy panel will replace this nicely. The Galaxy keypad is a little bit smaller, so you may have some decorating rework afterwards. The Galaxy panel is probably the cheapest option for IP with new G2-12's coming in at around the £30 mark on Ebay. Keypads costing a little bit more...

Wired alarm system with GSM for a garage

Ah, okay sorry. I thought you meant a business, not an outbuilding. The ethernet can be polled to warn of line cuts. GSM signals can be jammed just as easy. You can get a generic dialer on Ebay for £50. Search this forum, you'll see links I have posted before. These work with any panel -...

Wired alarm system with GSM for a garage

If you have broadband, then the Galaxy can be fitted with an IP module which gives full remote control along with the option of detailed voice or sms messages via self monitoring over IP. Most generic dialers will only give the option of a couple of inputs and corresponding messages. You...

    Honeywell G2 12 Alarm System ADSL/RIO/GSM

Yes, the RIO board will fit. If the RIO is older then you may have to solder across the tamper switch to bypass as there's no jumper. If you have a few zones that are close together, you can also use one wire to the rio remotely, then wire those sensors to it. The alpha gsm diallers from...

Galaxy gd48 to delta bell grade 3

A fault relay output needs to be wired to a zone input and not a panel output. The relay contacts are wired the same way as any other contact with 1k in series with the contact and a 1k across the contact.

Looking for A Texecom Installer, Sheffield/NE Derbyshire

Wow that's a hefty premium. For normal domestics most insurance companies will give 5% discount for having a non-maintained working alarm and 10% discount for a maintained system. Beware though, if you tick either option and are broken into without having set the system, the insurance...

Texecom, Honeywell, Visonic etc which for a small system

There are a couple of options. You could set the garage up as a separate group and have the garage running as a separate system from the rest. Or you could just program the garage roller door as a final zone and any PIR as an exit. When you open the garage, the timer will start for you to...

Texecom, Honeywell, Visonic etc which for a small system

There are 4 flavours of the G2 panels. G2-12, G2-20, G2-44 and G2-44+ The G2-44+ is different as it has a larger PSU and supports some other options. The other G2 panels are the same, with the exception of support for additonal zones. They all have 12 on-board wired zones. 12 zone is...
