    Galaxy G2 internal sounder

It should work on the 1003 output as you wired it. Ie. +12V Aux to +12V on the siren and 0V on the siren to the 1003 output. What is the 1003 output set to ? If you enter 53 and select 1003, then it should be set to 'Bell' 'L' POS. as this is the default. If you want to use 1001, then you...

Easy Fit SmartPhone Alarm vs SmartHome Alarm

The difference here was that the suggested system has internal camera/sensors connected. Leave out the internal cameras and I'd agree that any hacking is low risk.

Easy Fit SmartPhone Alarm vs SmartHome Alarm

I'm not really talking about targeted attack here. I am talking about mass port scan across UK ISP's to determine standard open ports, then a one packet transaction to determine the system at the other end and the en mass capturing of remote images for publishing on the internet. People...

Easy Fit SmartPhone Alarm vs SmartHome Alarm

From my experience with Security vendors implementations of embedded IP, I suggest caution when thinking about implementing image capture / cameras within domestic premises. With weak IP based systems placed on the internet, any hacker can dial in and watch you.

Easy Fit SmartPhone Alarm vs SmartHome Alarm

I suppose I see the Galaxy as pretty 'gadgety'. You can expand with a variety of options: RF Keyfobs: Two way remote setting/unsetting RIO Modules: Zone and output expansion RF Portals: RF based zone expansion Keypad Expansion: Multiple wired keypads IP Module: Android Keypad App / Low...

    Alarm choice help

Take a look at the Galaxy G2-12 with LCD keypad. New for £60 on ebay. You can even add IP based remote connectivity for under £50. I don't think there's another G2 quality panel at that price. Plenty of folks on here to guide you with the install too.

Easy Fit SmartPhone Alarm vs SmartHome Alarm

For the money you are spending, you should take a look at the Galaxy range. I think you could do a Dimension install with prox keypad, low cost IP module and wireless portal for £350. There are IP based self monitoring options and remote control via web based keypad for iphone. There are...

Texecom Wintex connecting over WAN with Wintex

Would also add that the COM-IP is a little vulnerable to be placed directly on the internet with a simple port forward.

Novagard SAB Wiring with Galaxy Panels

If internal speakers are tampered, then this would be with a zone. The 1k resistor worked, as the 'T' input is pulled up (positive) with a weaker pull up resistor. You pulled down with a lower value resistor, thus bringing the signal to 0V which is what the CPU wants for a non tamper setting...

Novagard SAB Wiring with Galaxy Panels

There are two tamper connections at the bell box. Simply link one of them to 0V supply in the bell box. The other is then connected to the 'T' tamper return of the panel. There's no need to connect a zone to monitor the tamper, the 'T' return is dedicated for this and does not require a...

    honeywell 2-44 sounder wiring

As per PM, yes that's correct. The manual you are reading is talking about the G2-44, G2-12, G2-20. You have a G2-44+.

    Honeywell Galaxy 2-20 - Engineer's Code

The manuals don't cover code reset options for the G2 series and are available via a quick google anyway. OP, I have sent a PM to discuss options with you.

    Honeywell Galaxy 2-20 - Engineer's Code

If you have opened the panel, then you must have triggered a tamper which your user is able to reset. If you don't have the engineer code, you can disconnect all power (mains and battery), then reconnect and quickly get the lid on and top tamper screw in. On boot, the panel will re-index the...

    Galaxy 2-12 - Horn / Speaker Volume

Sorry, it must be page 18 on the latest manual and 16 on the older revision.

    Galaxy 2-12 - Horn / Speaker Volume

You'll find that the second connection should be +12V and not ground. See the *NOTE on page 18 of the manual.

Where is the best place to buy Honeywell alarm components?

Google securitywarehouse. I find the prices pretty decent, but the delivery is sometimes a little slow. Cheapest is new stuff from Ebay, but you take your chances...

ADT Couldn't set system today due to low fob battery!

£43 a month... Wow! Is this for their digi dialler based service ? If so, I just don't think it's worth it. If you've completed the contract term, then I'd look elsewhere to save at least some of that £516 a year. There are many options for takeovers and self monitoring on the Galaxy...

Comfort II alarm - anybody fitted one? Alternatives?

It's not currently PC controlled and yes, the protocol is closed. I do have the Ethernet module connected and use a service to receive texts and e-mail. There is a power RIO in the garage and this has outputs hooked up (via high voltage rail mounted octal relays) to the garage internal...

Old Galaxy 18 with *** Firmware

Easier to just get the EPROM. Generally, the alarm installers don't need to understand the internals of the microprocessor and it's multiplexed A-D converters. They only need to interface with menu options and ensure that the zone/bus resistances/voltages are correct. Most if this is...

    alarm / cctv queries

I'm not into CCTV, but for the alarm with opening and closing SMS/Email/Voice, something like the Honeywell Galaxy G2-12 with IP module can do it cost effectively and you also get remote keypad control via your phone. If you don't go down the IP route, then opening/closing reporting over SMS...
