Can't remember the reason Gaz, wasn't really listenin, they worked out dearer than R7 so customer opted for those instead in the end.

NVQ level 2/3 qualification as defined in PAS2030

Done my NVQs couple of years back. The company who done our MTC test also offered the apprenticeship scheme. They put one of our lads through a 6 month period and done my Level 2 & 3 at the same time. I was under the impression that once you've gained the NVQs equivalent to the MTC, you then...

Should I pay final invoice only when Fensa cert received?

I do all our certs generally every 4-6 weeks. Fensa say 2 weeks which is doable on some jobs, Certass allow a month I think Some jobs are done in stages and some are new build etc so are never done in one hit. All ours are certified on completion (completion meaning the customer is fully...

Should I pay final invoice only when Fensa cert received?

The company/installer logs onto the Fensa site, inserts all the required date.... done!! Fensa HQ then issue cert, depending on their work load usually lands in 4-6weeks Depending on which insurance company they use for IBGs, this may automatically be issued, if not they will have to do the...

Should I pay final invoice only when Fensa cert received?

Regardless if it's a small or multi million pound national company, having to wait 2 months after each job for payment is never going to work If there are remaining snags left on the job then hold money, if it's complete then you need pay. We've gone to the customers house before to certify in...

Should I pay final invoice only when Fensa cert received?

We only issue certs on cleared funds. Cashflow killer, suppliers wouldn't be paid, wages would be late etc Fensa and insurance certs can also take up to 12 weeks! How's about holding back £200, if the certs don't show, you can then go down the LABC route.

    Document Q on extensions?

Confirm with the building inspector who's signing it off Gaz. As it stands it's only required on new dwellings but been told extensions will also be included at some point also. We've done 3 new build jobs since Dec, both the architect and inspector said Doc Q wasn't needed, we've got another...

Is there a prefered manufacturer of Bifold doors?

We used to use Smarts all the time from a Welsh supplier, changed to ALuk when The Window Outlet started up a few streets away from my house 2 yrs ago Prices were the same, never really had any problems with any but having them on your doorstep makes life a bit easier. Good service as well...

70mm Cavity between window and brick. Is this OK?

The Evolve detail also has an 20 chamfered detail around the frame. If any brickwork/stone mullions are not plumb you'll end up with this detail behind the brick/stonework leaving an awkward finish. Unless you've requested for a certain finish or for the windows to be measured a specific way...

70mm Cavity between window and brick. Is this OK?

Looks like they've brought the frames in slightly to finish flush with the plasterline, hence the gaps outside. Easier to finish off inside that way Every installer does it different, I hate the sight of plastic round a sash window, personally I think it defeats the object of paying the extra...

VeKa composite front door - struggling to close

Total bodge up, the aluminium coupler is there for a reason. I'd request for the door to be refitted!! Was this a Veka approved installer who advised on this?
