New uPVC windows scratched - repair or replace?

We used the Plastic Surgeons a few weeks back to colour match our window to the existing building. Some of their repair work is unbelievable. Only used them once, they came highly recommended Will be certainly cheaper than replacing Couldn't fault them

    French door fitting

I know people love to save money, but by the time you paid for a cheap door with no guarantee, paid for all the tools/materials required to fit the door, installed it, paid for LABC to sign it off, the general stress of everything involved, you might as well pay a few hundred more and get a...

Help!!! Upvc door with low threshold leaking in water

I reckon the door is sat on a stub sill, you can see the cement line where it's been patched in. Can you pull that trim off at the bottom? Then get a pallet knife between the Ali threshold and sill, need to remove the silicone, you might then see some water come out

Help!!! Upvc door with low threshold leaking in water

Drainage looks to be the issue Is that a pvc sill underneath the Ali threshold? If so looks like the gap between the Ali and the sill has been sealed. This is where the water drains. If it's not a pvc sill underneath, the Ali threshold might be base drain, again it's all been sealed up. Try...

Double vs Triple Glazing - am I missing a trick?

You've done a lot of research on the companies, product, u values etc, hopefully you've done the same on the installation team you'll be getting. All your research goes to pot if the installation is done poorly.

    H&S Working above a pavment

Aim to get the scaffold put up Gaz, less hassle and they'll deal with the street licence. Depending on your council, you can either apply online or you may have to send off a form. We done one a few years back, sent the form off then ended up with scaffolding instead.

    Grey UPVC Porch Door

Always been told doors can't reach an A Rating, neither can anything with obscure glass in. A door with obscure glass is a no no for being A rated, will it make a massive difference to heat loss??? Nope

Certificates for new door on extension

BC won't give a monkeys about how good/bad the install is, the plans normally specific to use a Fensa/Certass installer, if the BC inspector knows this is the case, most of the time they don't even look at the doors anyway. We had one last week where the BC inspector was waiting to see the...

    Draughty New Windows

Without sounding harsh, it's the same old familiar story where the customer thinks it will work out cheaper to buy the frames themselves then get someone in to fit. Never runs smoothly, especially when builders are involved. Can we see more pics of the windows from further back, hopefully no...

    Draughty New Windows

Can you see any screws going down through the window, if not I'd say they've attempted to screw the sill to the window before installing and hit the metal in the frame. Being a grained profile it's likely to be fully reinforced and what looks like timber screw hasn't pulled the frame in tight...

Where's the water coming from? (UPVC windows)

    1. You have drips missing to the outside of the sash, drips will reduce the water pouring down the window and into the profile 2. Are there any drainage holes, can't see any?!
