    Boiler in conservatory

My understanding of the regs are if it is removed it should be replaced with a condenser unless you have enough points to exempt it.And this applies to relocating boiler in same room you will also need gwn or building ispector approval.

Vaillant 242 E Combi Expansion Vessel

I fitted one to a 18 year old vaillant the other month so they are probably telling porkies.Try vaillant direct or do a search on the net.Normally they say you need a new boiler and try to flog you one with a service ageement.

head banging problem with glow worm boiler

If you have already changed the gas valve it is unlikely to be faulty as well though not impossible. I had a similar problem and like you changed the gas valve no change, so opted for the pcb which cured the fault as the land/lord has a few compacts i kept the valve for spare I think from...

head banging problem with glow worm boiler

Apologies getting boilers mixed i am wondering if the c/h thermister is faulty it will affect the b/p by modulating the gas valve down .Try checking that otherwise it has to be a pcb fault a faulty c/h thermister could affect the dhw as it regulates the heat in the primary h/exch

head banging problem with glow worm boiler

I think if you disconnect the modu reg two wires at the front of the gas valve it should fire at full rate if not it is the pcb as was the case on a 100e i worked on what is the flow rate when you reduce it to get 60degs you will only get a 35deg rise at 8/9litres it will drop as flow is...

head banging problem with glow worm boiler

Would lean towards the p.c.b ,if you change it adjust the ign. rate, also when you reduce the flow trough the taps what is the flow s/be about 8/9litres.If the plate is blocked the gas will modulate down.On c/h can you adjust b/p to 14mb if you can and plates not blocked prob. pcb

head banging problem with glow worm boiler

Yes and it was the p.c.b in my case.Other possibilities are d.h.w thermistor faulty, gas working pressure low, maybe a blocked d.h.w h/exch.

    Glow-worm exchange plate

Spot on oilski the system is bottom not top and i will wager f14 comes up as i said before that is a code for blocked h/exch.Sorry for misleading when i said the sytem was top side. What area are you in because the glow=worm engineer sounds like a complete waste of space, ask for a second opinion...

    Glow-worm exchange plate

I cant see how its the pump if the c/h is okay, it will do the same on both circuits unless the dhw h/exch is blocked system side. if the syst pressure is not rising that rules out a perforated h/exch. The water comes in through a flow sensor then into the h/exch and out to a tap if you have...

    Glow-worm exchange plate

the h/exch will only go in one way as the fixing points are off-set the top always has the writing on it, as agile said what colour is the debris another thought are any taps/shower heads being blocked as they will be mains fed on the cold side

    Glow-worm exchange plate

just remembered the dhw inlet should have a flow restrictor/filter fitted at the isolation valve. Thus eliminating any debris coming into the boiler via the mains. Surely as it is in warranty glow-worm checked this and or took a sample for analysis. p.s if the boiler when fired at full rate is...

    Glow-worm exchange plate

you have been mis-informed the debris will be in the system side of the dhw exch. Which i think from memory is the top, possibly the l/h side will be more blocked as this is the outlet side. The bottom holes will be clear as this is mains water. It cannot have been flushed correctly to have...

The boiler is Italian made by Herrmann bought by glow-worm . And is really a cheap boiler for the rental market it could be the cvi unit as mentioned ,or the the flame sensing lead not rectifying properly. I have had several of these in the past a continuity test would not show a fault [the...

    Glow worm compact

Sounds like it is blocked it will probably have to be replaced as it is a safety device.Had one the other month which was stuck in the on position the system had a leak when the boiler fired it burnt out as it had dry fired. It should be checked during the service it is a common fault normally...

ecoTEC ecoMAX whats the difference ?

As i mentioned previousley it is the same flue adaptor as the glow-worm XI range. They have now changed the seal and adaptor depending on age you may get it replaced on warranty as it is a known boiler fault. Also they usually fit a low water pressure switch at the same time.
