Hi, just was interested to hear if there are any electricians out there that HAVE NOT been subjected to a electric shock at some point during their work, if you have received electric shock/s, any stories to tell

    Earthing Back Box

Yes I know, just one thing though, if you were to change the faceplate with the power on, then the earth cable would be get dissconnected anyway :!:

    Kai Kai Kai Kai !!!

So if only using 2 of the 4 poles did you manage to get 2 tails into one connector on the load side? Mine are 25mm tails, not sure if I can fit 2 into one connector, hence converting the incoming side by doubling up into 2 poles?

    Kai Kai Kai Kai !!!

Hi, been trying to get hold of you, no email in your profile! I want to copy your 125amp isolator setup, I have the Wylex isolator, where did you get the metal enclosure from? Also you have 2 pairs of tails leaving the switch, how did you connect them? If you turned switch into single phase...

    Between Sub-Station And Our Properties

Just a query really, is it not a danger and indeed the most vunerable part of your electricity if the main supply cable from the overhead wire to your home is say 25mm or maybe 35mm and runs around your facia board etc before entering your home and is only protected by say a 400amp fuse at the...

For Breezer, as requested above PS was not questioning your expertise and had already come to the conclusion that you mis-read where the mcb was sited! Obviously damage on the phase side of the cable

    outdoor cable woes

But he did say he turned it off, he has to turn the mcb off in the house which supplies the garage in order to be able to take a shower in the house, as this is the only way he can stop the house rcd from tripping (he said, if I switch on the mcb to the garage, not in the garage!)

    outdoor cable woes

But the phase is not connected at the house end when the mcb is off, surely if there was phase to earth break in the cable, this would give the scenareo of only tripping the rcd when the mcb in the house is in the on position! I think I'm with momo32 on this one

    outdoor cable woes

At least we seem to have found out that if there is an earth fault, it must be on the live side as if on the neutral side the switching off of the mcb would not stop the rcd from tripping Have I got a point ?

    Spa tripping in garage

    30 metre run of 4mm T&E allowed to reach 63 amps, this can't be right :!: :!: :!: Is there any other kind of breaker/fuse protecting the 4mm cable :!: :!: :!:

old CU, bad earth, fused neutral (photo) advice

Hi Kai, if you are about, have you got the part number for the din rail/enclosure that you used with the Wylex 125amp main switch, I have now got the Wylex isolator and need to track down the metal enclosure! Also how is it wired inside as I note you have two pairs of tails coming out which is...

Auto Air Vent Srew Cap Loose Or Tight !!!

Thats what I thought, also when purchasing replacement today from proper boiler part shop (not plumber merchant) I asked the same question and was told to screw tight! Like you say, it would not be an Auto Air Vent! I did in fact go with an educated guess and used the leave loose option!
