Boiler kettling, is it the heating pump?

Water crystal clear, new boiler, F&E tank ok but air in pump…. could be connections allowing air to be pulled in to pump, could be the normal sound as be boiler fires as kettling is very obvious sound, a type of banging coming from the boiler. Still could add the noise reducing inhibitor, takes...

Boiler kettling, is it the heating pump?

How did the water look when you bleed all the air bleeds including the rads? Have you checked the water level in the F& E tank? Is this tank water looking clean. Consider adding an inhibitor for the kettling ( Noise )

    Replacing this -

First thing to do is to vent the pump and you can also see if the shaft turns. Simple , remove the big silver plug with a large screwdriver. Have a bit of paper etc to hand to catch the water that should then come out.

    Leaking toilet cistern

Ok, so above the isolation valve I can see the thread plastic pipe from the inlet fill that has some ptfe tape showing. Once the nut that tightens onto this plastic pipe thread starts to fail, it’s time to have it removed and a Brass inlet threaded unit fitted. Simple job and once done…it’s...

    Magnetic filter recommendation

So we inherited the Flomasta as fitted to our system. If you google remarks you will see the reason for it being half the price of others. It’s sold only by Screwfix, that’s my understanding, and it’s a hard plastic. The design has changed and now the inlet/Outlet ports are not off set, not a...

Flomasta magnetic filter 22mm simple replacement

It’s the off set one. Now after more reading, I’m wondering if it might be the internal O ring letting by that acts as the lid seal.

Flomasta magnetic filter 22mm simple replacement

The lid on our Flomasta magnetic filter must have a very small crack as there is now water on the lid. Reading other people experience of this filter also having the same problem. So, I would like to remove it and replace it with a different filter but there is very little room to make any...

Push button cistern continuously running into pan

Nice update and link to the new part. All I would add is, if possible, fit the inlet fill valve that has the brass thread, will cost a bit more but worth it. As a side note, mine was doing the same. I also renewed the same part ( service kit you listed above ) and then removed the the black...

    Electric gates remote opening system

Again I totally agree with you Flameport. Thanks for the links, hse . Bernardgreen, ours do have side of gate sensor strips the length of each gate that would have prevented the tragic accident upon closing.

    Electric gates remote opening system

Morning, the electric gates we have inherited when we moved in to our home are only opened and closed via the fobs. This works fine if we are at home for us but friends need to phone our mobiles so we can open up and that’s only good if we are at home. Been told that a SIM card can be added...

Lightwave and the risks of smart devices?

Im no techie, I have a few smart plugs for simple automation that work very well and a couple of smart cctv cameras. We looked at a new build home that was totally smart, it was very clever but I would be lost if any of the home smart system failed or even played up. Love the idea of smart but...

Can a Hive replace these heating and hot water controls?

Thanks Ian. It’s on the “to do” list I’ve been given! I was taking the opportunity to find and ask this forum about this change to Hive as I sat and had a tea break from the list I’ve been given and thinking about a bit of forward planning. I will definitely get back and update the forum and...

Can a Hive replace these heating and hot water controls?

I never even considered I could come up against problems, I assumed as I would keep in the old logon for hive that it would be a straightforward re-connection with a new receiver and thermostat but I take your point, thanks.
