Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Evening all, Just having a couple of glasses of wine to celebrate. DP came at fixed my problem system today - he is a genius. Heating now working better than ever. The big question now is, can anyone have a good guess at how DP fixed it? Just for a bit of fun. fluff

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Hi Agile It was Danny that suggested a full service, so that I wasn't getting various different people doing little jobs. As I have a care plan with Alpha which includes and annual service, I am arranging with their local service agents to come out and do the service anyway. Whether this...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Hi all Quick update. Trying to get Alpha out to do the annual service. Spoke to Alpha again, they are still pointing to a circulation problem. I am keeping my fingers crossed that DP will be good enough to come through to the East and hopefully fault find the problem. He will be...

Loft roof went mouldy last winter-will mould ever disappear?

Hi guys My loft is lined with foil backed plasterboard. Last winter in the cold weather, I had condensation forming and then fluffy mould spours. I have since had tile vents fitted but I noticed that the mould is still there. I hasn't got worse but it hasn't disappeared. Will it ever...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Hi joop Got 2 possible good potentials:- Get DP in to look at the boiler to see if there is any probs with it then look at any restrictions in the pipework. My option. Local plumber - had a good look at system, listened to all that I did. He is suggesting repiping the prob rad...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Hi boys Last question at the moment, getting 2 quotes this week. One engineer sounded quite switched on, will change the pipework to rad, fit drain tap, drain system, refill & drain again to see what comes out. Is there any agreement on whether I should get 10mm or 15mm copper or is it...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

DP - you are thinking the same as me, but husband agrees with Tamz. I just do not see how repiping this rad will improve the flow throughout the system and also how will it prevent the boiler switching off before the rads heat up when on number 4 or 5. If I turn the problem rad off and put...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Tamz, would make numerous amounts of tablet for takeaway, if I just get this fixed. Will be contracting locals today for repipe, fit drain tap & cleanse the system. My boiler does modulate. Ran it on full for 18.28 mins, 3 mins off then 4.12mins. I checked the gas meter every 30 secs...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

DH - will try the gas tonight. Tamz - I am thinking the same as you. Would you recommend 10 or 15 mm for this size of rad or is it bigger the better with regards to piping? I have only learnt how to make table and the recipe is perfect. Going to cost me a fortune in dental bills.

thanks for your vote of confidence on cleaning out. Is there something wrong with boiler if it...

thanks for your vote of confidence on cleaning out. Is there something wrong with boiler if it doesn't modulate? Should I have seen it modulate by now on either HW or CH? I even took the boiler front off to watch the flame but it never changes.

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Hi DH All TRV's are set to maximum. The house never get warm enough to have them lower. The only exception to this is my bedroom. As the rad was doubled up, it does get warm. When I had the heating on low during all the snow in Dec/Jan (was on at no. 4 24/7) my bedroom got a little hot...

We are thinking at the moment that we should get the big radiator repiped and get the boiler...

We are thinking at the moment that we should get the big radiator repiped and get the boiler flushed with the cleanser (will get someone local to do it). If this doesn't fix things then we are thinking that you would be our best bet for trying to solve the next part of the riddle. What...

BG or local rgi for install?

hi bluey Just reading your posts for a change. Look at my thread. DH explains modulating to me a number of times. Still not sure if I get it. Now I know where the guys are when they aren't answering my posts, they are over here helping you out - they do not have their...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Couldn't get no internet connection earlier, tryed to do the modulating on CH from memory and got it wrong. I have now ran tap at 3l minute. Have tried the boiler at 0.5 intervals from 3 up to 9. The boiler does not modulate, it just cuts out. fluff

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

I HATE MY HEATING Put DHW to 9, ran tap at 3l a minute. Boiler stayed on big flame except when it got too hot and cut out, re-lit after a few seconds. Boiler only ever stays on big flame when CH is on. Tryed in on no. 3, 4 and 7. no.3 - stayed on for 1 min no. 4 - stayed on couple...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

DP - what makes you think that there is a blockage at the diverter? Really hot water flows away from the boiler down the red pipe, therefore can't understand why the water would get stuck at the diverter? I would have thought the the blockage would have been further down on the flow or on the...

Replacement radiator is colder at bottom than it is at top.

Hi ChrisR I have a CB28X. Says on page.3 max. for DHW is 34kw. So think it is right, give or take my timings/where the dial was slightly mid number. Also flow rate is 11l at 35 c rise, I am showing 12l. Does that make too much difference? Will try the modulating on CH tomorrow night...

Sorry for not picking up your messages. I don't think I have ever used it before. I only worked out how to do the quotes today. I will have a look at your messages and get back to you. Will let my hubby see your post re the repiping. Do you do work in Perth? Thanks again Fluff
